Re: mac25 build

First prototype, water cut, mount was a 95% match. The aluminum version should be done hopefully within 2 weeks.

After that I need to build some simple intake and exhaust charge ports and tune her.

Re: mac25 build

.

SHORT VERSION

Fml! Lol. Aftermarket cam gear, timing plate, came loose while testing a fuel map yesterday. Timing belt smelt like burning. Plate was clanking. No signal from cam sensor sent car into limp mode. Had to limp her back home for an hour.

-new OEM timingbelt coming in ...again.
-not sure if I'll buy a better quality adjustable cam gear, or go OEM for now.

...........

LONG STORY

So I was taking the car for a rip with a fresh top end fuel tune, and she was feeling great (definitely an improvement over my first two fuel maps).

When all of the sudden no power, low throttle response. I'm thinking great my timing belt snapped again.

Pop the hood belt is still one (clear belt cover). So I thought maybe it popped out of gear and i stalled it some how.

So i try to start it, it starts kind of; wont fo past 1200rpm. Then I hear a clanking sound... fearing the worst, that i broke a rod or blew a hole in the block i check the engine while its running.

The clanking is coming from the timing belt cover area up top by the cam gear. I pull the cover (tools with me) and see that the timing belt smells burnt, and the cam gear timing plate has come loose, on my adjustable gear....

Had to limp her home, belt burning all the way for an hour at 50km.

Re: mac25 build

Tdc sensor smashed in half, aluminum shavings everywhere, fml.

Just replaced timing belt, cam gear and tdc.

...pretty sure the tdc is a knockoff though, was bagged with "genuine Honda part", bag looked legit but sensor was missing markings, snd the cast sucked.

Still running tdc code, so new sensor coming in.

Re: mac25 build

Today I heard the SC14 running!!!@ so happy 😁

I only had my plastic prototype charge tube/manifolds running, and didn't send the boost to the engine, because I didn't want to blow the prototypes up... bit I got the feel sc blowing, and hear it.

lol, i haven't had my Civic for 7 years now, and probably been away from these forums for just as long, and now a random tag brings me back here. I can't say I'm complaining though... I have a lot of fond memories here and its great to stop back again! I'm so excitied you finally got a supercharger setup. That build looks way more awesome than i ever remembered it. Great work mac

Thank the Honda gods, I'm closer to closure on this build

Real talk tho, great job man. Can't wait to see the dyno sheet. How many psi is that gonna push and what's the estimate whp you're looking at?

What's even funnier is the username tagging wasn't a thing until.. not even a year ago, I wanna say. I always love seeing old users pop their heads in every now and again. Brings back some great memories of times past

Re: mac25 build

@xRiCeBoYx I'm not sure on boost yet since it's boost by rpm, and I've only finished a quick street tune, just drivable at 50% throttle 800-4000rpm.

-Atmospheric here in BC on my gauge without boost was -7 at idle, -3 while driving (i think)
-now at idle with boost i'm at -3
-at 4000rpm 50% throttle it was at 4, so that's 7psi total gain from atmospheric, @ 4000rpm.
...maybe we'll see 10psi at 6800, lol.

Power wise I think a good sc build adds 80%, so if I was making maybe 135 with the other mods no boost, maybe we will see 243hp at 6800rpm. I'm really not sure.

Damn it man.. You can't say it sounds unique and awesome without a video... You know better

just out of curiosity, why the RSX-S pump and not the Walbro 255lph? Also, still with the stock returnless fuel system or did you convert to return-style? I see no mention of a FPR, so I'd venture a guess that you stuck with the returnless

Re: mac25 build

ya I can't actually remember if I used the rsx pump, since I wrote it I guess I did, but I also thought I went Walbro. I know I matched my plug inside the tank where it hooks up, so it might be a Walbro larger rsx pump... not sure, but seems to work so far.

No returnless, still on single line. =)

blower whine......gotta have that top fuel drag racer with a 3 inch wide Gilmer (toothed) belt drive to eliminate belt slip , and pulleys sized to overdrive the sc..... surely theres some drag racer volumetric efficiency calculator online or something to calculate sc pulley drive ratio vs boost

Did I miss the video already?

Re: mac25 build

@ezone Haha no video yet, waiting for tune, looks like most places are booked up for 4-5 weeks, just waiting to hear back on when I can get in.

I'm running a bit less than 2:1 drive pulley to supercharger pulley ratio, which cranks around double the rpm of engine. So at 6000rpm I'll be around 12000rpm on the charger. ...we're not supposed to really exceed 10-12k on this charger because the rotor blade coating can melt.

Charger belt doesn't slip 😁

Re: mac25 build

Was testing a higher rpm fuel map and shifted from 5000rpm or so maybe 80-90% throttle and blew a charge pipe coupler off, lol. Was like BANGGG! Thought I blew the engine at first, lol.

Generally, SC builds don't need BOVs because the throttle which controls air is before boost. However, since I've run my setup with boost before throttle when the throttle plate closes there is still a large volume of air in motion and pressure which spikes as the plate closes (similar to turbo builds).

So I'll be installing a BOV.
