Re: mac25 build
I forgot to update this for this year's mods

...my transmission blew up while racing so I decided to drop in a

-8.5 pound flywheel
-lsd
-6 puck unsprung clutch
-replaced all bearings
-replaced all synchros
-replaced 1st and 2nd gear

-and repainted the transmission and block.

Now I need to tackle the head rebuild/project SC/widebody...

I know! I think it's been like 3 years that I've been buying boost parts and two years that I've been focusing on the Supercharger.

It was supposed to be this Summer but the mx3 side project I had went longer than expected and I ended up trashing it and losing $500-800.

Then my transmission started popping out of gear and grinding into gears, which cost me $1200.

If I were rich or didn't have school to pay for I would have already boosted it.

But I'm in good order so far, i currently have.

-sc14 supercharger
-intercooler
-piping
-emanage ecu (not the best I know but should be fine to map a sc).
-emanage map sensor
-emanage harness
-550cc injectors
-half rad to fit the sc
-engine rebuild kit
-honing stones
-new headgasket

-removed the ac to fit the sc

upgraded the transmission to handle the power

still need
-forged pistons and rods (low comp)
-fuel pump
-head studs
-injector pigtails
-cam gear
-second head to deck and P&P.
-upgrade exhaust from 2.25" to 3"

Re: mac25 build
Well I realized it was uncharted waters, and, most people who supercharge really don't know how to develop a kit.

Finding the boost ratio per pulley size was a really hard thing to find info on and understand.

you need to know your supercharger's max safe operating rpm and then calculate a pulley ratio to achieve it.

I believe for the sc14 max is around 14,000rpm
the d17 revs to 6,800 at red line

So I was basically looking for a puller which would double the rpm generated from the engine.

Since I'm running my sc belt from the ac drive pulley (harmonic ballencer) I need a supercharger pulley half the size of the ac pulley

this multiplies the rpm at the supercharger by two to a max of 13600 at red line.

Makes sense once you think about it... in theory, lets hope it works. lol

Re: mac25 build
Minor update.

Just placed an order for

-k1 rods
-Wiseco low comp. pistons
-crower titanum springs/retainers
-obx tunable cam. gear.
-arp head studs
-injector pigtails
-WALBRO GSS342 FUEL PUMP
-2.25 exhause cutout

Still need

-second head to P&P
-fabricate custom SC mount/intake manifold

Already have

-sc14 supercharger
-intercooler
-boost sensor
-piping
-emanage ecu (not the best I know but should be fine to map a sc).
-emanage map sensor
-emanage harness
-550cc injectors
-half rad to fit the sc
-engine rebuild kit
-honing stones
-new headgasket
-I/H/E

Total expected boost budget including custom fab and tuning = $5560

Re: mac25 build
Ya and it is much nicer to drive with, it drops the amount of driver input needed to corner. It's about one inch smaller in diameter than stock.

Re: mac25 build
...well that took wayyyy too long. Like 4 12 hour days maybe more time. But now the ground work is laid for the supercharger. I just have to recover my car parts account and take a breather.

Still need to install

-ecu
-injectors
-injector pigtails
-supercharger mount
-supercharger
-supercharger cooler and pump
-intake manifold (i was going to have a custom one fabed, but I think I'll just slack off and use a d16 manifold and k20/24 throttle body).
-intercooler/piping.
-boostable spark plugs

I have everything ready to go except for the intake manifold and supercharger mount.

Re: mac25 build
I wanted to focus on one project so I chose power over aesthetics, for now. Especially now that I've lost a bit of power from the low comp. pistons, I want that boost power, darn it!

=D, but ya it's been a long road man =D.

Re: mac25 build
...so something is wrong with the rebuild.

I'm thinking it is the oil rings.

I have 140 across all cylinders with low comp pistons. but it's drinking oil fast. burning 1L in 500km or 1 quart every 310 miles.

Well only at high rpm, If i baby it she does ok.

Since the build i've gone 807 miles.

I'm hoping it's just the rings breaking in the re-hone job. But still sucks.

In other news I have a z6 manifold and couldn't find a k20 throttle body but I did pick up a j30 throttle body. So I'm going to try to mod that one to work.
