My first fender bender
My first fender bender
Ouch, this really hurts.
So, I was speeding to class the other day and got into a minor fender bender with this lady, my car got the worse end...here are some pictures. Also how much do you guys think it would cost without insurance?

Post up the pics.
Are you asking because you don't have insurance or you don't want your rates to increase?

Re: My first fender bender
I'd say don't tell insurance. You'll pay more over the years with higher rates then just getting it fixed. New front bumper and side fender from the looks of things. Btw, that sucks.

one of my fraternity brothers is a lawyer, and he gave me some advise when someone hit me. he said (in florida... not sure where you live, but the law might be the same) that your insurance company cannot raise your rates unless they can prove that you had the majority of the fault. i'd check it out if i were you.

Judging from the damage, I'd say dont contact the insurance, as it looks like they will try and pin it on you.
Most of the time they evaluate the damage, and since its on the fender they are more likely to see it your way, but I'd have to see the other person.

Re: My first fender bender
Well how much damage did you do to the other person, thats the important part, you can drive w/ a cracked fender/bumper, but your legally responsible (if they prove its your fault) for whomever you hit.
I say if its not too much just pay for whatever damage you did to the other person and then not worry about your own car until you get enough saved up (extra cash laying around) and buy a new bumper/fender and install it yourself.
This is of course if they prove its your fault, it never hurts to argue your case.

A couple of things, If you came to my shop and wanted to pay cash I would say $800 and fix everything, anyone that works in a bodyshop can tell you that it can be repaired and will look fine. If you go through insurance you have to pay a deductible which is around $500 but then you can get new parts which would be around $1800 pending if you insurance will pay for OEM parts + you get a rental

Re: My first fender bender
they asked to see if i needed one but I told them no, currently a piece of the plastic (see one of the pictures) under the car is scraping on the tire every time I hit a bump or causes my car's springs to be raised. Therefore if its a dip in the road, it really scrapes it and makes me cringe
I can hear it even though my ipod is on full (on aux port) and the volume is like 10 or w/e.

now she wants to claim injury, I've talked to 3 people in the past 4 days about the accident and have had my story straight, I have a $500 deductible on the insurance, which isn't that bad.

Um it got repaired, paid 1600, and now (we had to pay 200 bucks extra for the new fender) and now Helfman Ford (the company where we got the body work done) said that we owe the 200, but we paid them in cash (I believe i was half awake/sleep when I went to pick it up with my dad) and so Yea, they're basically trying to get 200 more bucks
