Took some pics of my new trunk floor i built. Carpeting shipped out today from Crutchfield.com. Gonna mount wiring/amp/cap behind sub box but i'm a little worried about the heat. Any input?
Floors made out of 1/2 MDF. Had to glue/buscuit pieces together to come up with 2 side pieces. I think it turned out ok. The DIY here was very helpful.

This is a nice to do if you use your trunk a lot. It was tough to get it in, but I was able to cut it so it's only two pieces. It has a solid floor with the trap door for spare tire access.

one i get them carpeted, the 2 main pieces will be hinged together for spare tire access because my subs take up so much room. i'm not going to permanantly attach any of the pieces together because if its one big piece it wont come out. i'm still playing around with different things.

I don't have any pictures, but I cut it using the stock carpet as a guide. I then had to shave the sides down on the widest part of the floor until it fit in the trunk opening. There is only about a 1"-1 1/2" gap on either side of the panel. Looks good. I'll try to get some pics sometime soon. Oh, I may be getting an EP3 if my brother can sell his car, so he can buy mine. 0.o

my amp rack that i made originally was made of .5inch mdf and when i hit a railroad track a little harder than normal, it kinda snapped in two. but i did hit it kinda hard. (cap and amp were on the board when it broke.)

Using two different subs can be very bad unless there is a divider inside that sub box that seperates it into two cabinets. If it is just one big cabinet, you are running the risk of destroying one of the subs, which in turn could destroy the other sub after the first stopped beating from a sudden gain in apparent volume which could cause an a fried coil/overheat/potential fire/etc.

I did a similar thing a few months back. I just took the oem floor out and traced it onto 1/4" plywood. I wanted to use mdf, but its too heavy for a race car. After tracing it, I jigsawed the outline I traced and had one solid piece. I cut out a section to access the spare wheel well, installed hinges and a handle and carpeted it. It came out really nice. This is definitely a good, affordable way to clean up your trunk and make it more user friendly.
