anyway yeah the rsx muffler is not loud at all, but with 2.25" piping + intake, it gives me the perfect sound.
I can still enjoy music in my car.

since the rsxs have the same platform as the civics, wouldn't buying a catback and just bolting it on make more sense than buying a axleback and have it extended and welded?
^^what are you talking about? the RSX catback is still too short for our cars. It has been done and proven. Bolting the cat back on will work, YES, but will still be 6-8 inches too short. So even if you get the cat back, you would still have to extend and reweld.
So buying the muffler and putting on your own pipes with your own diameter makes much more sense.

I have an RSX-S muffler on my sedan. In my opinion I would have probably been better of getting a chrome muffler tip. It doesn't really mount up correctly. It mounts up surprisingly well but well... the stock piping on my car was a complete pea shooter. I cut the mount off of my stock muffler and the RSX muffler and then clamped the mount to the RSX muffler pipe. It hooks right in.. a little awkwardly. The muffler tip falls short of clearing the bumper somewhere around 3 inches.
I'm going to just get a full exhaust in the future... as having only the RSX-S muffler does nothing... imo it doesn't even sound any different.

Busted open my 06 rsx-s muffler - Club RSX Message Board
RSX-S 05-06 Part#1060.... no valve!
Type-R Part#1052
The tip is also different:

Rsx-S left, Type-r right. One is angled-cut the other one is straight-cut and a bit longer.
I bought a 05 RSX-S thinking that I'd have the valve and then found this thread...
Well, I'll install it anyway... since it looks hot! Thread Starter
