you can just get a high *** quote, and have the insurance cut YOU the check. rather than the body shop then you can pocket what you want. Thats what I did, I had my car at a friends body shop had them quote it with the ins. then told the ins. co. to cut ME the check. Its YOUR money so they have to give it to u if you request it.

how fast u hit the boulder? if u were going over 20, im gonna say the frame is def messed up with the engine pushed in. more than likely the insurance company will just say its totalled cause to get the frame fixxed is gonna cost skrilla

Wow that sucks! Hope you're okay and about the car...if it's that badly damaged maybe you don't want it fixed unless you really have alot put into it. Mine had all kinds of frame damage and crap cost $7k to fix but it was less than the car value so they repaired it. I don't know if yours will drive the same again if there are liquids leaking. It must've damaged alot of parts.

I was going 40 when I saw the cat or dog or whatever. I hot the curb a second after, hit a mailbox, and then hit a large *** "lawn ornament" boulder. BAM!. Airbags deploy, I smell something funny, glasses go flying to the back seat because of the airbags, I run out of the car.

I saw that my engine wasnt smoking and my car wasn't going to blow up, so I went in search of my glasses. When I found it, about 20 people were standing around me, none of who saw what happened.

I'm still waiting for a call from my insurance company so they can check out my car. I hope to God its not totalled.

didn't read through the whole thread, so I don't know if this question was answered with the same thing I am about to say, but here goes. Some shops let you buy aftermarket parts, they will put it upon you to buy the parts though, but when you have it, they'll install it. You just have to find that right shop, since some shops don't cut any slack since its kind of like insurance fraud (but not really).

It will drive the same (if not better than before) providing you have a good, reliable shop do the work, your insurance company is going to recommend you some shops, where they warranty any work done to your car, if your paint doesn't match on your bumper, the rest of the car, take it back to the shop, since you have this warranty, they HAVE to fix it, in other words, you can complain about any little flaw in the replacement of your car, until you are 100% satisfied.

sorry for a lot of posts, I have a lot of experience with this though, lol.

If your car is declared a total loss, they will let you take out any aftermarket parts from the car, providing you replace it with stock (or at least try to.) Say you have Leather seats, you can't take them out and leave nothing there, you'd have to replace them with stock seats.

According to the auto repair shop, there is $9000 worth of damage, not including the transmission. If my damn insurance listens, gimme like $9000 and I will get a full r34 octane kit and a new tranny from some member here.
