Look what I did... (UPDATED)

Well, after much trepidation, I finally did it. I painted my drums orange. Oh yeah and the RSX sway bar too.

Now before the flaming, keep in mind I am a University of Florida alumni (Go Gators!) whose colors are orange and blue. Sure it's flashy but I think it's kinda funny. Hopefully I'll paint the calipers next week.

So what do you think?

02/18/05 - Finally got around to taking pics of the painted calipers too.

I thought my eyes were messing with me then I read the post and yep it was orange.

Different. Really like the bright bar

Now paint the car bright orange, it will look awesome!

Lol! Honesty is the best policy...

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the taillights, just put them on for the amber turn signal. Probably gonna dump them soon and look for some euros (I believe they have the amber turn signal, right?).

I'm not really crazy about the drums but the bar looks really good. Looks like you did a quality job on the paint though. How did you do it??? you use any type of primer or anything??

This was my first attempt to see what it would look like. I was rotating the tires and thought it would be the perfect time. I sprayed down the drums with brake cleaner and used a wire brush on my drill to get rid of the rust and debris. I sprayed again with the brake cleaner and wiped off with a towel. The paint is the 500degree paint from AutoZone. They didn't have the 1200degree in orange. No primer, no clear top coat. We'll see how it lasts.

For the sway bar I just scoured a bit with steel wool and painted. No heat in the bar so it should last.

I painted my custom Rear Strut Brace red and it looks great under my all silver and black ride.

Actually doesn't look half bad. I wouldn't go with any blue accents though. The only way that combo would work is if the whole car was blue.

Yeah I agree, I really like the bright orange drums, I powder-coated mine so they last... but when I read the post and you're talking about orange and blue, I thought your civic was blue, then I saw the pic. Silver and orange is probably some other team, lol.
But the bar? I dunno, I'm not sure, it's one of those parts that shouldn't stand out, but that's just my opinion.

Haven't had a chance to get back to Gainesville to get stickers since I inherited the car, but soon...

I just got back from the post office and when walking out to my car it just made me chuckle when I saw them.

Truth is I like how the calipers look but the drums just look a bit funny. Hopefully I'll give Bonnie a good wash this weekend and dress the tires and get a true look.
