If the gas door is shaved and gone, you may not even notice. It's all about catching looks, isn't that what 99.99% of exterior mods are about? Just my 0.02, my taste differs from yours.
Of course, if and when this mod gets documented in a DIY, EVERYONE is gonna do it, and it'll get so played out, like the flip flop trunk...

Catching looks? You could put a huge polka dot ***** on your roof and catch looks also. I guess it depends what sort of looks you are looking for. I personally would give more points and credit to the guy who shaved his gas door and relocated his filler neck elsewhere in a clean and professional manner vs. someone that made some hinge to flip his gas door like a lambo door. I would also give more credit to the guy who left his gas door alone vs. the guy whomade it flip like lambo doors because it would seem he would be doing just anyold thing to catch attention, is probably why he has lambo doors to begin with. That is just me though. I like good craftsmanship when looking at cars. I mean when you think about the work involved you go from someone who welded, grinded, sanded, painted, and relocated to someone who just bolted on some hinges. That is the problem with these damned import car shows the award winners seem to be the people with the most bolt on items rather than the people who have good craftsmanship skills.
This is my opinion and I am sure a lot won't agree.

I'M NOT TRYING TO FLAME ON YOU OR ANYTHING and I agree with you 100% but the import show gets paid through bolt on products/mport car enthusiast with sponsored by bolt on products to advertise, and what not, and not from a shop or person who painted his car... and it's all about the never seen before stunt that people put on their cars that gets the points... so it's a Car Show, and not a Skills Show just my .05
