I have come to the conlusion that...
All I have to do for my civic to different from eveyone elses is maintain and clean it.
One of my worries about getting a civic was that i wouldn't know which one was mine out of the millions in the parking lots at school. Not a problem at all...
I have made the following observations at college.
All the stock civics I see are owned by people who have no intention of modding them, and at that, no intention of careing for their cars. Their definition of clean is that it rained the night before, and likewise probably don't know cars need anything more than gas.
Then there are those who mod their civics.
There are two types here. There are people similar to above, only they have bodykits fart cannons and super duper wings. but don't ask them why, they don't even know.
Finally there are those who mod, but are also capable of at least keeping clean and maintaining their cars.
I have not seen a well kept stock civic for weeks
It does not matter what car. If it looks like it just came off the showroom floor, people will think wow thats nice. Not neccessarily a daayyummm, but a hmm cool.
Maybe I could start a trend... SUPER UNMODIFIED CIVICS!!!!!

Hey, I go to college and i drive a stock civic. First, my car gets dirty in like 2 days after I wash it because I live on campus and and the car is out at the parking lot 24 hours a day and I only drive it like twice a week. It gets wet at night and all hot during the day, plus there are falling leaves and bird **** and recycled water from sprinklers. Second, I have to do homework and study for midterms and stuff, so I really don't have time to do car wash. Third, I have no intention of modding my car because again I should concentrate on my school work and going to college requires a lot of other expenses, so I don't need to spend anymore money other than getting gas and keeping the car maintained. I might go into modding once I graduate and get a job though.

IMOHO, the only way to be different with a civic is to keep it stock. Because nomatter what you do to the car, chances are that some where some one has either the exact same thing, or something very close.

sadly, this is true.
the winter dirties my car if i washed it every day it would be 300.00 bucks a month. screw that i would rather spend the 300.00 bucks on dc headers or an aem intake think of the oppurtunity cost, clean or fast. you could have both but its pretty pricy.
in the summer my car is clean enough to eat off of.

Yeah, keeping a car clean here in the winter is near impossible, it only takes about 10 minutes of driving after a car wash and your car is dirty again. Its even worse now in spring that all the snow is melting, now when you drive behind somebody you get pelted with water, snow, sand, pebbles and salt.
Showroom cleanliness is strictly a post-April thing here, though I do my best.

the street i live is under construction. they're changing from asphalt to concrete street, but right now there only gravel, so my car is really dirty. haven't washed it in a long time. a few nights ago i was refuling and the guy at the service station looked at my tires and asked my if my car was "Rally Edition". I just laughed because it was actually really dirty...only outside, interior is always very clean.

I also understand its winter and hard to keep a car clean. But there is a difference between a car that is cared for and has gotten dirty, and a "this dirt is as old as the car" dirty car.
know what i mean?

i clean my car alot in the summer, but in the winter, hell with that, just because its cold i dont (it really doesnt snow in oklahoma). i cleaned my car last week, friday i believe, it already looks like ***.
i'll go weeks without washing the car sometimes, but i never let it get to the point where people can write stuff on the car, like "wash me".

I'm at school right now...car washing costs $$$ and since i have to park outside in a Texas winter it'll rain 2 days later and completely nullify any work I put out...but during the summer if I'm at my house...my car is bling bling like a chicken wing on a string

I mod my car and keep it clean as much as possible. I see stock sedans everywhere around here and mine's the only modded one that I know of. And why spend 18K on a new car just to treat it like a used peice of crap?
Then there are the people who are afraid to do anything to their car. They won't even take off the dealer stickers or license plate frame. Either that or they just don't care about what they have.
