Ecu Blown

Hey, I know there's a lot about blown ecu's on here but its hard to find what I'm looking for. My question is what difference would swapping a dx module into an lx car do? They have different options I know this, is the harness & connectors the same? Would it send too much power & fry my ecu? Thank you

Re: Ecu Blown

As long as it's the same engine, trans, and either 01-03 or 04-05 then it will work. You need to fix the problem that caused the ecu to fry in the first place.
you will also need to get the ecu programmed

As too the poll.. you can undo the damage of eating bad sushi with a few pills, it would be a life sentence knowing you ate monkey brains which for all practical purposes would be cannibalism as we are so closely related.

Re: Ecu Blown

Originally what happened what I brought the vehicle to midas for an oil change & an inspection for insurance. Long story short they came across a leaky bit of brake line was trying to charge me 500$ to fix it. I said no, got in my vehicle after the oil change & inspection. About 45 minutes into driving my cars dash lights up first with the immobilizer key, then everything else lights up & car dies will not turn over. I towed it back to midas, they said it wasn't there fault & were trying to charge me 1500$ to fix it. I heard a mechanic who did the inspection say under his breath that a certain wire was forgot to be put back ground I think, I have no idea, anyways I'm sure they covered their tracks and it was a huge fight then. I don't have an ohm meter so I was just going to replace the alternator as I've heard that could be a problem. As for programming I found a thread last night that show's the epproms needed to just be soldered in the new ecu? not too sure about it as Ive never done that before but it's going to be my first go for a repair. Any thoughts? Thank you

Re: Ecu Blown

ECU frying is linked to alternator bolts loose (variations in voltage) and that kills the ECU. So a ground that was not connected could well be a culprit.
soldering the part that contains the key data is just too much work, not sure if worth it...
