Should i take my car to the dealer and take them to look at it? (I have extended Warranty). hmmmm
Have the same problems, bounces so hard on every little bumps&rocks tought the suspension, when I go to the dealer they told me to wait 1 month to get 1 set of original suspension (on my own expense= a lot of money) the dealer didn't know bout the 2K1 Suspension Replaced program your all talking about. When I have them fixed up, the bounces only reduce a little compare to my 92 civic. I'm stressed up... is it the nature of the car or maybe just my car..........f*cked

stock shocks are suck, even when new the car bounces all over. im really happy with tokico shocks and eibach prokit springs. very firm and better than oem by far. its how it shouldve been.

I have a 2001 Si-G coupe, purchased in 2005 in MINT condition (still is!). I never had these clicking or noise problems that I keep reading about, but ever since I bought the car I FEEL EVERY LITTLE CRACK & CRAG ON THE ROAD, and if I hit a hole or something bigger, dear god it feels as if I have no suspension.... Really feels as if the wheel axle was welded directly onto the car frame as if I had no suspension system.

A friend says that the shocks are done, but they haven't leaked, and over the past 3 years Honda has confirmed "Uh yes, the Si is sport suspension, it is supposed to be stiffer...." But this isn't stiffer, this is just BAD........

I'm about to replace all 4 OEM shocks with KYB GR-2, for $475 CDN. A friend of mine says this will solve the problem, but I'm really skeptic. After all, my car isn't sagging or anything, it's just damn hard!!! How can a shock stop me from feeling every little crack in the road - will this be the fix??? I even have buddies who've had other cars with lowered performance suspensions which were stiff & hard - but they were good. The cars were lowered and performed amazingly. But mine is just freakin' horrible, and not even lowered or anything... Unless on a perfectly smooth road, I HATE driving anywhere else cause everything on the road is felt, it's horrible!!!

PLEASE, anybody who has/had this problem please can you share some sort of info/advice before I need to go out and spend almost $500... Thank you!

Re: PLEASE READ: 2K1 Suspension Replaced

ride harshness as you describe it is mainly caused by the size of rim and type of tire. the suspension helps to a point, but not in the way you think. my oem shocks were always really bouncy, like if you go over a dip in the road, it would bounce up and down several times before coming back to straight. this is what a bad shock does. a good shock does not allow the car to bounce all over, it absorbs the vibrations transmitted from the springs. i noticed when i got new aftermarket performance shocks (tokico hp), the ride got firmer and i could feel more of the road surface, but it was not bouncy at all and very stable around corners. i also rode in my brothers stock rsx (nearly new at the time) and the ride was just terrible. most likely from the bigger rims and smaller tires since they come stock with 16s. you could feel everything in the road as if the tires were at 60psi or something. so in summary, i do not think new shocks will help with your problem. they will make the car safer to drive if the bad ones are worn, but its not gonna turn a civic into a cadillac. its just the way the suspension system was made. but trust me there are far worse than civic out there.

Re: PLEASE READ: 2K1 Suspension Replaced

I am not a huge fan ok KYB, I prefer Tokico. Your car is 7 years old and if you are on stock struts there is a very good chance they are blown, so I would def replace them. Also look at your tires if they have a very high tread life like 90k miles they are comprised of very hard rubber which would transfer a lot of energy to the car. So to recap get new struts pref Tokico and maybe change your tires to a softer rubber.

lol yeah good point about the tires. also depending on the brand, many get hard in cold weather until ou drive around to warm them. so it could make it even worse. also shocks are much rougher in winter, at least my tokicos are, and in summer they are awesome.

did you put the rubber gasket between the housing + the coil part of the GC?
otherwise sounds like either improper indexing or a bad sway bar endlink

Re: PLEASE READ: 2K1 Suspension Replaced

Hi all, last year when I was putting on my snow tires after releasing the jack I heard something break . Sure enough after I was done , I took her for a spin and I kepted hearing poping and cracking sound when I turn the wheel. It turns out that I broke the upper strut mount on the driver side . This year the same exact thing happened to me again but this time it was the passenger side. GRRR
