Clunking Noise from front wheels!

Hey everyone, newbie here.

Alright, well i had my progress springs put on about 2 weeks ago and everything was fine with them, i just needed an alignment, so i went to the closest tire place to get one, but they found out that my outer tie rods were threaded, so i had to have them get me new ones and intall them. Then, when i got my car back, the front springs clunk now while im turning. The guys at the shop said that the spring just needs a few weeks to settle in and it should be fine. Can anyone else vouch for there opinion? or should they be able to fix the noise?

Thanks

Go ahead VNlilMan, tell 'em about the $3.00 coil wrap solution. I'm tired of explaining it to peeps.

On bumpy roads i hear a little noise, kinda sounds like change bouncing around in my wheel well. but its not loud enough for me to worry about. (and no, its not the change in my change holder that i hear..haha) But other than that, its only when im slowing down and turning at the same time.

haha fine fine i'll explain it..

try getting cable wrap from radio shack. just wrap it around the coils on your springs... the reason why you probably have the noise is cause the coils or the springs are hitting the perch(the thing it sits on). the cable wrap just prevents the metal hitting metal your [probably] hearing...
after your done remember to send me some of the cable wrap so that i could do mine

Alright, here's the deal: I went through all this crap already so I'll save you the strife. The clanking your hearing over small bumps is the metal spring rattling against the metal cup that it sits in. Stock springs come with a coil sleeve that insulates this noise. If you still have ur stocks, check 'em and see. But it's not doing any damage, so don't sweat it. The noise your hearing when you turn the wheels is the dead coils rubbing against each other. To fix this, go to Radio Shack and buy a spiral cable wrap for 3 bucks. Then, jack up your car until you get decent space between the dead coils on your front springs. The dead coils are the coils that aren't being used (hence, "dead") located at the bottom of the spring, sitting in the cup. Once, your car is jacked. Cut about 3" of spiral cable wrap and slide it around the dead coils to act as a spring isolator. This will prevent the springs from rubbing thus ridding the noise. Do this on both sides and you're all set. To get rid of the clank going over bumps, you'd probably need to take the springs out and slide the stock coil wrap over the very bottom coil, but that's just too much trouble for me, so I haven't bothered with it. Not doing any damage anyway. Yeah, so try that.

ya i beat you but you explained it so much better
hypr to get to the bottom coil, maybe try doing this... put the wrap as low as you can and try to slide/squeeze it to the bottom? cause ya a spring is a spiral so maybe you can get to the bottom like that?

i know.. psh i should stop giving advice... its not even $3, your going to throw the rest away anyways. why not hook up someone that helped you.
haha its koo tho, i dont really expect anyone to send me some.
ya i think i'll just live with it.. i did for the past year so

Yeah, actually tried that but couldn't get all the way to the bottom cuz' it's sitting pretty tight in the perch, so I got it as close as I could and it's tolerable. Anyway, send me a PM with your info. and I'll send you some coil wrap. Sorry I couldn't last time cuz' I was going outta town, but no problem now if you REALLY want it.

SedanBoy: Just go to Radio Shack and ask for a "spiral cable wrap". That's what it is called and it costs $3. Well, at least that's the going rate here in Ohio. Not hard to find.
