What to do? Front struts blown......

If you read my other post in Vehicle Issues, you'll see my problem.....

Other post

So it comes time to decision time....

I need to replace my front struts, and both my front lower arm bushings. I was planning on dropping my car this summer (nothing major, prokit or HR sport), but if I have to replace my struts what options do I have? My gf suggests I go with a coilover system because of the winters we have up here (CANADA). I can go real low in summer and go 4x4 in winter.

If I do the above I have what options? Tien SS, Ground Control, Skunk 2? If I were to do GC or Skunk I would have to buy the Koni yellows. But could I use the Konis (since they are inserts) with my blown front struts? If not, I should probably go with the Tien SS system????

The other option is to go with a spring/strut combo. Again, I would have to go with the Koni's but I have the same question as I did with the GC setup.

I'm looking at my options cause if I think about the money Honda wanted to charge me roughly $660 CDN for the factory parts plus labour (@ $80/hr) and taxes I'm looking at close to a G.

If I go with a coilover system how much more is it going to cost me? sping/strut combo?

I would suggest a full coilover system like tein. if you have the cash get tein flex or JIC (about $1600 USD). but Tein SS and B & G will do also. They will run ya about a grand. There aren't an spring/strut combos out so you will have to get something like eibach plus the konis. i would rather get coilovers then get the konis personally. I also wouldn't want to deal with sleeved coilovers like skunk or GC, plust those plus the konis would be about a grand anyway. good luck.

One other question, do I have to buy a rear camber kit if I go with a coilover setup? SPC or Ingalls?

Thanks Robb, I'm considering the Tein SS..... My car is a daily driver, so should that affect my decision if I go coilover?

Sometimes coilovers have a harsher ride than a shock/spring combo. I have only heard good things about the Tein's tho. I have only heard one bad thing about Ingalls and only good things about SPC. Search around the forum for some more info. Either should do.

I was just reading the installation instructions someone posted a link to for the tein ss and it says their products should "not be used in vehicles driven on public roads"

I'm still leaning toward the teins because the cost is only a bit more than if I were to go with a strut/spring combo, but should I be concerned with the above statement in their instructions?

no not really. alot of aftermarket products say crap like "for off road use only" or "for race use only" because that takes all the liability off of them if they are used illegally (like in most states you can't drop your headlights below 22inches. So if you get a ticket, you can't blame them because it says for use not on public roads.
