Just wondering, with all the talk on these strutbars, do they make all that much difference vs not having one?

Yes they do.
There is a curve that I go around everday on my way to work. Before teh front upper strut bar I could only take the turn at 60mph. ANything more and I felt like i was gonna lose control.
But with my Neuspeed Front Upper strut bar I can now take the curve at over 80mph and still feel safe.
It's great!!!

Yeah, I have the Neuspeed strut bar too. I noticed that at highway speed, there is less effort in lane changing, and the turning feels more responsive. I love my Neuspeed bar, I don't know about the DCSport bar. I chose the Neuspeed bar because it's one piece, and it looks and feels more solid. Try it, if you don't like it, or don't notice a difference, there's always someone on the site who will buy one from you.
It noticeably stiffens up the front end of the car chassis.
You can get a cheaper one than Neuspeed/DC, but it won't accomodate aftermarket intakes. Afterall it is just a metal bar, and shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

I drove for a year and a half before getting my bars, the difference with them is just amazing.
The car is way way way more solid.
My steering is also way way way better.
In fact everything about the ride and drive is better.

the strutbars prevent the fenders i believe from leaning inwords when you take turns, basically they just strengthen the chasis and provide some stability and allow you to take turns faster and not worry about flipping your car.

Putting them on the front and rear is recomended. But then, this is coming from a guy who doesn't have a rear bar yet. I guess you could say the rear bar is coming soon.
I just bought the Neuspeed one and duuuuude I really feels it! I can see the difference..I drove my car before...after and WOW that's the best suspension mod I done so far!
Have a look at what it look like in my engine bay

The neuspeed front helps alot. I have a rear brace and you can't tell the difference but it looks kool. I dont have a drop yet and am running 217/45/17 falkens on rims with a 42 offset. the bar helps control some of the flex however, but riding on the stock suspension, i can say that the bar only helps so much. The stock struts and springs are so lazy the car still flies all over the place sometimes.
Just having the front will give you more oversteer(something our cars do not need - only rear and all wheel drive). Getting the rear only balances it out with the front. You think that is stiff, wait until you decide to spend $79 and get the Aerospeed rear floor brace. Its the next best thing to a roll cage.

Two months later an old lady in a minivan hit me from the side. My car was nudge a little and I did not feel much, but her car bounced off mine. I have minimal damage from it. She hit directly on the tire and the floor bar save my car from crumpling. I have one shredded tire, from pulling over to the curb and she changed lanes into me. Long story short, she floored it into a sharp corner - that everyone slows to a crawl to make esp when they take the turn early, like she did. The only thing is I saw make the turn and two seconds later, she hit me. Now the insurance company is still questioning the statements and is waiting for a non existent statement from the police. There would be one but she sped off right after I gave her back her cards b/c she did not have a valid insurance card at the time. I should have kept it, but the lady was 300 some pounds and her two kid(boy and girl) were about 200 a piece themselves. I was scared and I am 5'8" and 180. She came out yelling and screaming at me telling it all my fault and that I came around the corner(from a stop) at 100 mph. My girl looked at me and told me "Its a Civic" and I started cracking up. She did not like taht too much and stomped her way back to her car. And some guy backed into me trying to get out of a parallel park when he did not need to back up. So now my hood and front grill are bent up and cracked. And I just started liking the way my car look.

i have the neuspeed front strut bar. you can get a black one for $90-$99. i wouldnt say its like night and day difference, but i do notice more rigidity and better handling. it just feels more stable. im planning on getting a rear tie bar also soon...to finish up my suspention.
no real need to get a rear upper strut/tie bar because the trunk floor acts like one.
I have a neuspeed upper front bar in black. Picked it up for $99 at shox.com. I have heard the DC sports bar is less stiff (seeing as how it is not a solid bar, but has those circles). The DC bar just looks a whole lot better, and costs more.
Gotta say, it's the most bang for your buck. Cheapest part I have put on my car yet, and it really does help on the turns. I used to hear my tires squeel if I took an on-ramp fast enough, but I haven't heard sh*t from my tires since I had it installed.

If I could spend $550 and get 5x the improvement as the $110 front upper strut bar, I'd do it. The car isn't just better in one area, it is better in many different ways.
The rear upper strut...you can live without, but I'm not removing mine.
