Neuspeed Sport on Coupe
I have been given mixed opinions on neuspeed sport springs 1'75 in the front and 1'5 in the back, I was told that I will need camber kit and new shocks. Some ppl are saying that I won't need a camber kit and I won't need shocks for a while around 6 months to a year. People are also saying that camber kit and bad for your struts cuz they make wholes in the strut tower? I have searched but have received mixed info someone wanna clear this up thanks in advance.

you don't NEED a camber kit. but a rear camber is advised to save your tires. your shocks/struts will be ok but over time they will wear quicker so you'll eventually need to replace them. VNlilmans aren't in too go of shape and hes on the neuspeed sport. it just depends how you drive and how ofren.

haha thanks NUTS... I should lock this thread but whatever... doesn hurt to discuss it again and again after awhile...
-one false statement is "People are also saying that camber kit and bad for your struts cuz they make wholes in the strut tower?" who the hell told you that???? camber kits do not mess up anything. yes
-need new shocks? there's no real answer to this. no one knows when the shocks are going to blow. it may blow in a day, it may blow in 5 years... it varies ALOT. you could always drive on blown shocks anyways.... i drive my car like a 4x4 and ya after like 7k miles, i feel my shock are starting to blow. i remember they used to ride fairly nice when i first got them, but then of course i had stock 70 series tires then. now i have 40 series. but ya i would say theres a good chance of them blowing withing 2 years tho. again it varies alot tho and its hard to give a rough estimate even...
-need a camber kit? I KNOW you dont need the front as we have mcpherson struts up front and the camber is hardly effected.
i also know you dont NEED it with the prokit(about 1.3" drop) cause the alignments are still within spec but neuspeed sports is kinda borderline-ish to me. i myself didnt get one, whether or not thats a good idea is another thing tho. when i drive on dirt, i could see how the outside of my tires arent touching the ground. i dont think its too badd tho, i only had my 18s for under 5k miles so its kinda hard to say whether its wearing out too fast or not. if you dont have money for it now, who cares just get it later. its not like driving around with a 1.75" drop and no camber kit is going to kill your tires right away...
-one thing to remember is... yes with a prokit you might not really need new shocks or camber kit but why spend $200 when you cant even tell the car is lowered? i personally like my car slammed(to a certain extent) and want people to know my car is lowered. when i got my neuspeed sports, i got them cause ya i wasnt planning on getting new shocks or getting a camber kit but no one could tell my car was even lowered. i mean yes its my car and i'm familiar with civics so i cant tell it is but to someone on the street, it looks stock. its kinda like whats the whole point of lowering when it still looks stock you know... its better to just spend the extra cash and get the drop you want. but then only if konis werent $600 at the time... for the most part i'm ok with my neuspeed sports. had them for about 9 months now, it didnt give me anywhere near a slammed look but it killed the gap and made my car look ok with 18s. but i'm ready to spend the extra $700 or so and get the cup kit when it comes out. it should look nicer and most of all give me a better ride cause after awhile you get tired of the crappy ride on stock shocks.

1st thanks for not locking i searched but I wasn't really sure what to think, the person that told me that cambers where bad for your strut towers was someone that worked at a performance shop nearby. I have my neuspeed springs bought already and I just wanted to know if I really needed to buy shocks cuz I got 17's with 205/40's and I was planning on buying konis but no more money so ill just wait for tokicos or just buy a full suspension kit when i got the $$$. Thanks VNlilMan, I was looking for an opinion that someone already had them installed so I could actually trust someones thoughts cuz you dont really know what to think till someone who has them been through it or you have been through it yourself thanks again.

one thing i learned is you shouldnt really believe what a shop tells you... they are liars and often times they dont even know what they're doing/saying. i know i went to one shop to get my springs installed and i was practically telling them what to do. i mean wtf, i took it to a shop cause i figured they knew what they were doing... but ya before you actually do listen to what a shop says, you should research it. it seems like thats what you've been doing so good...
205-40-17s... eww too thin for 17s IMO. with those tires your cars going to be pretty low so you might not want to go lower.your going to have a fairly large gap tho, i'd say from 1 1/2 to 2 finger gap... hehe anyways sorry just commenting... i'd say install them.. you'll be happy with it. i know i was, $210 to drop your car(140 for springs 70 for isntall), cant beat that. if you could DIY(which is fairly easy with the right tools) thats even better.
me i'm waiting for the cup kit. it has adjustable damper and adjustable height for $600. much better then a koni+spring setup and not as expensive as teins or B&Gs either.. should be out by april..

umm.. i thought with the H&R cup sets you couldn't adjust the ride hight
isnt the cup set just a shock and spring packaged together?? i didnt think they were coil-overs

ya they're not coilovers but they are still height adjustable...
its probably like the rear konis.. you know how they dont have threads but they are still "height adjustable" you move a clip or something to adjust the height... i think you would have to disasemble the shock to adjust the height.

1" is a pretty big difference.. i dunno, everytime i think of 205-40-17 i think of this car... and his are supposidely 215-40-17

cause getting those tires are like dropping your car 1 extra inch. yes from stock height to 1" drop aint **** but dropping your car from 1.75" to 2.75"(cause of the smaller tires) makes a big difference in ride height.

Ahh I think thats a bad pic to work off of.. here's what mine looks like with 17" wheels and 205/40's and no suspension mods.

Look at my member link for more pics. But yes I agree, it can get pretty low when dropped 2-3 inches.

ya see thats like the height of my car with 215-40-18s on neuspeed sports...
now you know why i hate my tires/drop. mine are like .7" bigger. 1.7" drop - .7" tires = only 1" drop in ride height compared to stock.

Thats all personal preference man.. depends on what you like. I myself will get some 205/45/17's next so that I can retain the stock speed and odometer reading, well within 1%. of accuracy. Close enough for me and a little smoother ride. 40 profiles look nice though..

17's + NS sports + 2 12's in the trunk = off camber
17's + NS sports - 2 12's in the trunk(stolen) = correct camber
i think i will need new shock with in the coming 3 months. ive had mine springs on for about 3 months now. and i drive really hard.

Wait.. so the cup kit comes with everything you would need??? I would only want to buy a camber kit??
So with the cup kit, I don't have to bother with other shocks/struts??
Am I mistaken in understanding what the cup kit is?
