update on B+G coilover problems

anyone that's been experiencing the clanging/thunking associated with the B+G coils, finally after 5 months the noise has ceased.. I didn't hear it today at all when driving. however, the problem has been replaced with another. now whenever i steer (usually to the right, not as notable when turning to the left) I hear this weird stretchy noise, kind of like stretching out a rubber band or a spring.. can't think of a word to describe the noise. anyone experience anything like this?

also, as far as the creaking noise I'm experiencing in the rear, yesterday I installed the OBX rear upper bar, it didn't help at all

I think I have the 'stretchy' noise. The B&Gs were silent until 3 weeks after the install, then this sproinging noise starts. I'm used to it now though. ::shrugs::

foreals, that is a nice view... too much damn smog in LA to get a shot like that...
eh, the noise is usually caused by the top perch not being aligned right on a stock strut but you have B&Gs so... its probably the springs twisting tho.

he knows what he is talking about. The helper spring and the polyurethane spacer and the main spring are your culprit. Unless the bearing in the mount is making the noise. All the stock components are made to work with the stock components, remember that. Buying pillowball upper mounts should eliminate the noise.

I think i finally located my creaking noise. before I was just taking off the left rear tire to look for a problem. well today I was adjusting the rear height, when i noticed a difference on the right side. the difference was the bumpstop wasn't wedged into the upper mount! I am almost certain this is what was causing the noise.

I have the noise when you accelerate and when you turn. The bearings that came with my coils started squeaking after making some sharp turns and when I accelerate is the coil and spring shifting with the car.

Oh yeah, the bumpstop most likely will not be your culprit.

I pulled it out of the upper mount and there was no more creaking. I dunno how it got pinched in there. maybe because I was transporting 5 people in my car awhile back

I have groundcontrol and konis and I have a clicking popping noise coming out of the front drivers side. I only get it when I hit a bump or something.

Did everyone figure out how to fix there issues with the B&G's or are there still problems people are experiencing?

How's the adjustablity and ride quality of the B&G's?
Is it a "race track" suspension or comfy on the highway?

InanimateCarbonRod, nice ride! dang, that's fresh.

Thanks,

I only get the sproinging noise on rare occasions during low speed parking lot type manuvers.

Adjustability is about the same as spring coilovers I guess. It'll take me about 5 minutes per corner to adjust the collars +/- .25". That's using a floor jack and jack stands.

Ride quality is EXCELLENT. The self-dampening feature means it's comfy for most everyday driving, but when you start driving hard, the suspension wakes up. It's kinda hard to describe, but I would say I can comfortably take turns at a high rate of speed.

My car feels rock solid on the highway at speed.

oh, and thanx for the compliment.

edit: 5 minutes per corner, not side.

I'm not having any problems with my B+Gs currently. all the sounds have practically ceased, i only hear an occasional quiet noise, probably because my tie rod boots are torn. I give B+Gs a

my car is lowered about 2.5" all around, and the ride quality is nice when it's just me or a friend in the car. once you put someone in the back seat then you start to feel more of a bounce. there are times i'll be driving and i'll see the car bouncing a bit but i don't feel it.. it's a very sporty feeling (especially when it's lowered ALL the way) just the other day I raised the height about half an inch (for state inspection) and the ride feels stiffer. the front height is very east to adjust quickly, but the rear is harder to access/adjust. I can only turn it like 1/4 way before having to go back, lock the wrench on and turn it again.
