Lowering / Highering a car???

Hey guys, I am interested in lowering my car, but I live in Chicago and we get alot of snow during the winter. I have heard that there are lowering kits that let you lower and higher your car whenever you want. Is this true? If so, can anyone give me any info on this or suggestions? Im sorry, but I know absolutely nothing about suspensions on a car, etc. so please be somewhat simple about it.

thanks!

if you want to "higher" your car, try putting weed in the gas tank

What is the difference between those and how much do they cost? Also, what brands would you recommend? Thanks!

Just know that when you lower or higher your car your car will not ride the same. It will ride bouncier. If you buy coilovers or springs to lower your car make sure to buy shocks because you factory ones will blow and your car will ride like sh !t. Coilovers are adjustable springs. You can raise or lower you car. Air suspension will lower or raise your car at the push of a button. You ride on air and not springs.

seems like your really new to all this, please read the Suspension FAQ

you might have a problem with coilovers as they probably use salt on the roads and the salt will mess up the coilovers. even with air suspension, not only does it cost ALOT(around 1500-2500) but the bags or the cylinders might get messed up as well. i'm not 100% sure if its true with all coilovers tho since i live in sunny california i dont really have to worry about it.
