NEWBIE QUESTIONS. plz help

Hello,

Total newbie here and I have NO CLUE on anything.

If I was to lower my car. What do i need? Strut Bars? camber kit?

I know alot of people who just gets the spring but my cousin who's a mechanic was telling me how it's a bad idea without the entire kit because it kills the car.

any input ion that? or maybe educate me? =)

Thanks

theres a couple different ways to drop your car... there are a few more but highly suggest you not do it that way so i wont talk about it.
1) springs $100-200
2) sleeved coilovers($100-320)/true coilovers($800-1600)
these two things are the things that actually lower your car

then theres also aftermarket shocks because your oem shocks weren't designed to be used with a drop. this is give you a better ride. depending on your drop, your oem shocks will blow faster so its better to replace them when you get the springs/coilovers. about 500 for all 4

then theres a camber kit. this is used to adjust the camber of your tires in order to get a correct alignment. cause when you drop your car your the top of your tires will tilt inward wearing out the insides of the tire faster. the lower the drop, the more your cambers off. about $150-200

you could try installing it yourself using the diys or you could get it done by a shop for around $70-120

please search for specific information. the FAQ on top of the suspension forum is a start

Hey man, if you use the search feature you will totally learn so much on this subject, that is how I learned what I know and now I can have conversations with peope and impress them with what I know about the suspension in our cars, as well as a ton of other things. But don't let my boys in on my little secret...I just thought I would warn you about flamers on this site man, they get UPSET if you post a basic question like that before searching...Just do the reading brother...good luck!

lol, yes, doing a few searches can help you a lot. I came to this site a total newb on cars, and am already confident enough to install my own lowering springs (2" drop in mind). The only thing I'm somewhat confused about now is the strut/tie/sway bar thingys. if anyone's reading this, how many different bars are there, what do they do, and in what order should I get them? I figure they may help prevent structural damage and improve handling..

i know that any bars aren't necessary, it wont mess anything up.
as for camber kit i think the only thing would be your alignment
shocks, maybe but i doubt it...

ALOT of people just get lowering springs n dont have problems, i doubt you would either, unless if you drive like an idiot which i doubt

true coilovers replace the entire shock/strut also, right? i've never seen true coilovers - only the sleeved ones.

here are pictures of B&G true coilovers provided by duyaknow...
front
rear
both

some come with top mounts and some dont. unfortunately B&G dont so you will have to take apart your stock strut and use the top mounts on the B&G.
the ones that do come with top mounts, you just replace your whole strut assembly.

well shock and spring replacement. it would be better then getting groundcontrol+konis or eibachs+konis cause they are tuned to work together.
