Civic 2002 Si DD Coilovers - Teins?
Civic 2002 Si DD Coilovers - Teins?
Hey All
I know OEM coilovers have been asked to death over the last couple decades, and I apologize for adding to the pile. But, i'm just making sure I am getting the right info here after browsing around for the past hour in this forum.
For a DD, comfort-focused, little-to-no drop, Teins is still the go to? Is it specifically the Teins Street Advanced Z (GSA22-9USS2)? or the Teins Basis Z?
Or, is a direct OEM the only way to go?
Are there other stuff to look at now in 2022?

Tein is still great bang for buck.
Just to be clear... You're talking the EP3 Si Hatch, not the Canadian Si (which is the same as the US EX), right?

yup, the US Si hatch
I hesitate every now and then to use the "ep3" term, as i keep seeing Type R people scold us Americans for using that. idk why.

a coilover will most of the time lower a bit, depending on the range (shorter shock bodies), just fyi
when different countries are in a forum, differences in cars starts to appear... At the least, here most are US/Canada, with the occasional Australian/European users popping from nowhere
Tein is the best to have nowadays for 7th gen civics? Most stopped support for this platform.
See this other here, for example:

Do you want to lower the car or not?
if yes, get coilovers, if no, just put some quick struts in.

technically, the OEM are coilover shock, but the common jargon coilover is used for adjustable height systems.

Crap roads like pot holes and uneven surfaces. Ever drive in NJ? Some of the roads feel like driving down cobblestone. This is on a lowered vehicle as the spring rates are typically higher. A stock civic doesn’t ride like a caddy anyway so no big lose.
I’d say if you find the Civic harsh as it is on your daily drive then lowing it will make it worse.

Also if you have a steep driveway the front will scrap if you are too low. When I was looking for houses I would bring my GTI if the driveway was questionable and if I couldn’t get it into the garage without scrapping then it would be crossed off the list.
I had Teins on my Fit and they were very comfortable for DD. Very nice product for the price.
