tie rod -______-

okay i haven't been on in months but i needed new inner and out tie rods, they were installed and brought to an alignment place and they said the tie rod appeared to be too long because there was no thread showing. Do i need shorter tie rods? I'm about 2 and a half inches lowered I'd say my alignment is toed in by i think 2 degrees on the passenger side, drivers side is fine and perfectly aligned. Did i just get the wrong tie rod or am i lowered enough that i already need shorter tie rods. Basically I'm asking is everyone on here on stock length tie rods?

Re: tie rod -______-

If your mechanic is saying that the tie rods are too long, just open your hood, take a flash light and look toward the back left/right of the engine where the tie rod meets the tie rod end. If you see that the tie rod end is screwed all the way on the tie rod then you need shorter tie rods. If you see the tie rod end is not all the way screwed on your tie rod, then your mechanic is BSing you.

If the tie rod is too long, just take your car or tie rod(s) to a machine shop and tell them to cut your tie rod(s) a 1/2 inch or whatever length you need to adjust the toe to 0. It should not be too much money for them to cut and re-weld. I have done this already.
