Suspension Help

When I bought the car it had ground control coilovers on it. 50k miles later the ride has just gotten unbearable and one of them just started rattling. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to suspensions. I need to know what parts to buy, struts and springs??? This car is my dd and I dont need a performance suspension on it. I need the lowest cost solution that is going to provide a decent suspension.

When I bought the car the owner threw in a set of new springs he had laying around for the car. The box they were in say they are for an 01-03 celica. Can I use these springs?

Re: Suspension Help

Well if the springs are for a civic, then yes...but the box doesn't help with knowing that...Your best bet is to buy a new or used set of front and rear strut assemblies...then you can just unbolt the old, and bolt up the new. Odds are the stock struts are blown from the GC's so its not work reusing the ones you have. That and it will be extremely difficult to remove the old GC sleeves, unless they are relatively new.

Is there a way to tell if these springs are for a civic? Any suggestions on a cheap place to get the struts from? You think I should just go OEM?

Re: Suspension Help

if you use oem struts with the ground control springs you have now your going to be rite back were you started in a couple months when they blow. if you get oem struts your going to need oem springs. or you can use the ground control springs you have now and just upgrade your struts to something that can handle the ground controls like Koni yellow.
