bububack to stock height - strut mount disparities

hey everyone, its been years since ive had problems with my civic and come to this site (kinda like when things go bad and people turn to religion)! anyway, im raising my 2001 LX coupe back to stock height after being on goldlines for the last 7 or 8 years... i took it all apart and found that one of the springs actually broke about 5" from the bottom end of it.. the piece was just sitting in there making all sorts of clunks..

i put in both fronts- new struts, original springs, and new mounts.

but wait- the mounts looked totally different than the originals- there's no self-centering mechanism!? but will the spring self center itself?

i took it out for a ride and it was smooth, but clunked with every bump. oh boy.

i did some searching online and found part of my problem- i didnt line up the little tick marks on each piece.. though i dont remember seeing any :/

was i sold the wrong strut mount?

PS i bought a cv boot from autozone- it was super thin rubber and ended up not fitting (too baggy on bigger end).. went to napa, got one with much thicker OEM-like rubber, nicer straps, and even a new axle snap ring! and guess what else? it was $3 CHEAPER!! im sure being cheaper is not normally the case for napa.. but i was very impressed with the quality and will buy from them from now on, even if it is a little more $. haha sounds like a plug

thanks all

heres a pic i found of the strange strut mount with the 1/2" golden gap under it that is not familiar.. below is a pic of what i used to have..

something like that... it def had these parts:

are these interchangeable? the original setup had no gap between the upper strut retainer and the strut mount.. im so sick of having to do everything twice!

if anyone needs an spc camber kit, i will sell super cheap.

ok well, ive learned that my year uses plastic bearings (which was a bad move by honda apparently), and all years after used metal ones.. i think ill take a trip to the dealer and see if i can just get the bearings and not the whole mount...hmmm

haha i was like WTF? that pic looks farmiliar. then i realized it was mine. lol

those are the top mount strut bearings. it helps with the turning of our wheels/steering wheels.

and they are NOT interchangeable.

the left is for the 01-02 and the right is for the 03-05 if i remember correctly. they seat different on the top mount.

they actually upgraded it to metal. if u go buy a replacement part for it at teh dealer, it is actually metal now, not plastic.
