Re: struts for 02 civic lx sedan??

Hey man, the most cost effective struts I found were RSX struts, I picked up a
full RSX A Spec front and rear (strut tops, struts, springs; front/rear) w/about 10k on them for $100. The struts themselves are about an inch shorter (sorry, no measurements) so they will work out pretty nicely. I'm running neuspeed street springs and the ride is much stiffer than stock but still really good considering a 1.75" drop.

My car is an 02 ES1, there was some confusion if they will work at all because there are 50mm vs 55mm housings and the RSX and later Civics use a beefier 16mm lower bolts vs 14mm for 01-02, I just grabbed the RSX Tie Rod Ends ($60ea @ dealer, couldn't find them elsewhere) and everything bolted up perfectly, even the brake hoses.

100+120=$220 which isn't bad at all. A little more if you pay someone to install.

Check the FAQ's.

I'd see if you could locate something used, honestly.

i already checked the faq. most of them were coil over and the other guy stated koni yellow or kyb agx (reds) but they're running about 600 bucks for a set. might as well put an extra stack and i can get myself a decent turbo... anyways i decided to keep my old springs and shocks and just cut my springs to lower my car. well at least just for now bc i wana save up for a turbo in the future and then wen i have enough money i'll lower my car the "right" way. i've been searchin every where for used struts but cant find any luck. thanks guys for all your help

cutting your springs is stupid and dangerous. Our springs, especially the front ones, SHOULD NOT be cut. I am not saying that cutting all springs is bad, but would you throw a cheap manifold on with a good turbo? No, you do it right the first time. It is stupid IMO to lower your car just because you feel like it rather than having all the right parts.

And yes, your answer is in the FAQ. There is a post on shocks for our cars. If you want to lower, the Dspecs, AGX, and Koni Yellows. End of story.

ok so i cant do it with our 7th gen then lol. bc my friend drives an audi a4 and he cut his stock springs he said he wasnt too bad but eventually wen he saved enough money he dropped it the correct way. my other friend also did the same on his 96 civic. also, how low can i lower my car with tokico blues or kyb gr2? sorry that im new to this and still a noob but thanks for all the input BTW I DRIVE MY CAR DAILY IN CITY AND SUBURB SO IM NOT LOOKING FOR RACING SPRINGS OR SHOCKS.

Every suspension is different. Cutting springs is the old way to lower a car and it can be very dangerous. Cutting a progressive spring without a dead coil changes the spring rate and leaves it vulnerable to breaking. Your friends are stupid ricers who don't know ****. Cutting certain aftermarket springs can be done, but rarely can OEM springs be cut.

Well you have to decide what type of drop you want. If you want a mild, yet inexpensive drop get the Tokico blues with the eibach prokit. Or you can get the RSX A spec kit (you will need new tie rod ends).

Anything lower than 1" you should get better shocks than the blues. I will reinforce again, either do it right the first time or you will be paying more later down the road. And since you don't have the money, then I suggest you wait. My biggest concern is that you seem to be in a rush to lower your car without thinking through the consequences. What's the rush?

Re: struts for 02 civic lx sedan??

I have a 2002 honda civic which I bought lowered. I exported the car to costa rica and it is terrible here with the roads. I am desperatly looking for springs to buy or trade when I go home for Christmas. If there is some way we can work together, send me an email at jschuc1 at hotmail
thanks,
john
