Bolt size of bottom strut

The damn nut on the bottom passenger strut that connects to the rotor is a little rounded because the damn thing won't come off. Tried impact wrench, tire iron with all my weight on it (at least 20 tries), WD-40, almost everything. Still nothing, and now the nut is a little rounded from all that stress.

Would I be able to get that 19mm nut from any hardware store? I.e. Home Depot, Rona, Canadian Tire? Or am I looking into having to go to Honda and getting that nut?

Btw, my bad for the error in the title, it's supposed to be nut, not bolt. ^^

Re: Bolt size of bottom strut

best is if you go to honda to buy the bolt from them to replace... dont go to ur homedepot or lowes to buy the bolt...

Re: Bolt size of bottom strut

That's odd, though it does seem like it is welded on, don't know why it would be...

Anyway, thanks for the replies!

Re: Bolt size of bottom strut

Anyone know the torque specification for that nut is? I used a 450 ft/lbs max torque impact gun, and it didn't budge. Gonna take it to a suspension shop tomorrow and see what they say.

Re: Bolt size of bottom strut

I had the same thing happen to me last week when I was trying to swap my suspension, broke one of my rachets too for putting a huge lever arm on it. I just put everything back together and said ****it.

let us know what the suspension shop ends up doing.

Re: Bolt size of bottom strut

neither side is welded on, it's probably just really tight. soak it in PB blaster then try again. if that doesnt work, take some heat to it but watch the obvious stuff.

Re: Bolt size of bottom strut

I asked a buddy of mine, and he said to apply an extreme amount of heat on it, like a blow torch, and use a vice-grip to take it off. My main worry with this is that the threads on the bolt will warp... guess I should head down to the Honda dealership and get the bolt and nut. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Re: Bolt size of bottom strut

Some of those bolts get damn tight. I don't understand.

When I took me hood off we had to torch one of 'em.

Re: Bolt size of bottom strut

A friend of mine tells me that he's not surprised at my situation. He had to do the same on his 1.6 EL, and said that it was common on Honda's to have a nut or bolt that felt like it was welded on.

Anyway, I lost the lock nut socket, so I can't work on my struts until I either find the socket or... I have no idea. -_- I'm told that if I have the original packaging I could just match up the code. Too bad I don't.

Damn, this sucks.
