so i had more bad sounds creaking & bumping under the front of my car, so I took a look when I did my last oil change over the weekend.
I've got the progress front & rear sway bars on there
, with grey's endlinks on the front ONLY (stock endlinks on the back). everything else is stock.
So I look under there, and the bracket bolting the sway bar to the chassis is broken!
This would be drivers side; the bolt towards the front of the car. The front flange of the bracket has a clear break in it at the corner of the u-shape, making my sway bar attached on that side by one bolt!
Luckily, when this happened before, I had called progress. and bought 2 extra brackets. so I slapped my extra bracket on. but what's the deal? They shouldn't be breaking like this.
Is it the endlinks? Are the crappy boston roads at odds with my sway bars? Any ideas??

He isn't talking about ENDLINKS. He is talking about BRACKETS!
I've never had a problem with mine, but they do get salty and may wear out. Maybe trying painting or clear coating them to protect them from the salt.

well both the front and the rear have the same brackets. Yes, he is talking about the brackets around the bushings. If it is broken, the the bar doesn't do its job.
Re: help! progress front sway bracket broken--again!
^ true. just clarifying it was the front though.
i need to grease my bushings like no other. my car squeaks and creaks so bad, sounds like a machine gun when i jack it up.

Re: help! progress front sway bracket broken--again!
but would big pot holes cause this bracket to break? or perhaps something like a big set of railroad tracks or a driveway with a megasteep entry?
i gotta say
to Grey. Grey's endlinks > sway bar bracket Thread
