I'm going to freaking kill myself!!
Hey guys. I'm having a problem that is absolutely driving me nuts. I lowered my car on Goldline spring. It is made to be a 1.75" drop. Very moderate. When I put them on, I had two fingers gap on all four wheels. I blew a strut and the driver side got dramatically lower. Like less than one finger gap. I just installed all four tokico blues today. My car is now sitting at less than one finger gap on all four wheels. What the hell is going on? I have $1300 in brand spankin new rims and tires sitting in my garage that I can't put on because my car is so ridiculously low. The rims are 16's and the tires are 205/50/16(same diameter as stock, just wider). I don't know what to do. Am I going to have to resort to putting the OEM springs back on? I was just going for a moderate drop with stock sized tires and now I'm slammed with tires I can't put on. I would really appreciate any help at all. This is driving me insane!!
Re: I'm going to freaking kill myself!!
i put on some goldline springs and had a two finger gap on the left side and a three finger gap on the right side. So i took them off and bought coilovers instead.
Re: I'm going to freaking kill myself!!
1.75 drop thats pretty much one finger gap all around... just drive around the block and go on the high way... if the height didnt change at all then u good.. by the way i think u should get a 1.4 drop from sportline or 1.5 drop from tein ... cuz 1.75 after it settle .. pretty much bring u to the max drop where the tokico hp shock can handle..

Thats weird cuz the springs should hold the car up and even if the shock blew it shouldnt have dropped that much........shows how weak and soft goldline springs are.......

Re: I'm going to freaking kill myself!!
well maybe you should just get a different spring thats not as big of a drop. the tokicos are pretty good at giving the correct drop for the spring. stocks arent rated for lowered setup and will do weird things like sag even when theyre new.
Re: I'm going to freaking kill myself!!
lol you aren't gonna rub with that setup, trust me, I have 17's with Progress springs, 2.2 all the way around with a turbo up front, and subs in the *** and its sitting pretty, no rub, no problems except bottoming out with the front core support lol...

I 100% agree with gearbox. Just get some diff springs. Or you could do like highboost said, test them, run around like this for a little bit and see if they rub the fender. If they do then change the springs, if not then change to the new wheels. You said that they are the same height as the stockers so, if the stock do not rub then the new wont either.

Re: I'm going to freaking kill myself!!
well... i put the new tires on. the front is rubbing the fender well in the front is rubbing when i go over bumps. and the back is going to have to be rolled
Re: I'm going to freaking kill myself!!
Back to topic:
Dude before u roll ur fenders, Please ask for some help with the pros over here.... Trust me that Baseball trick messes up ur rear quarter if not done properly. The mother*****in shop guys who did my spring installation messed up my rear quarts. and i feel like killing em every time i look at the rear end of my car.... It looks like it has an abnormal WIDE BODY KIT
Try a rubber plas kind of thing ... and take ur time while doing this stuff !

I understand your pain. I'm not a big fan of rolling my fenders. As of yet, the back isn't rubbing. I'm going to take out the driver side front fender lining tomorrow morning to see if that gets rid of my scrapping noise when I go over big bumps. I'm still uneasy about fender rolling the back.

If it rubs, add some negative camber.
btw, what's the offset on the rims?? Mine rubbed with +42 in the rear, which everyone says should fit (yeah right).

Re: I'm going to freaking kill myself!!
the offset is +42... the back isn't rubbing, I'm just pretty sure it is going to. The front was rubbing the splash guard on the driver side, but I fixed that problem by just removing part of the splash guard in the fender well.

Easy way to see if the back is going to rubber the fender. Push the back end down, sort of bounce it a little. If it doesn't touch the tire, then it won't rub. Well, you might need to get someone else to push the car's back end down, while you look. Make sure its rubbing before you attempt to roll any fenders.

Re: I'm going to freaking kill myself!!
It might, depends on how closer your tire sits to the fender. I have to add 2.0 negative camber in the rear for mine to fit without any rubbing, and its still pretty closer to the fender.
You probably already have at least 0.5 negative camber and probably don't even know it.
