Re: Update
good luck man, its a tough spot, when it happened to me, it was my last corner, so i had to ride 2 miles down the road with 3 dropped corners and 1 stock, it was weird and scary but no damage done, an impact will work, but it may take time, either way itll cost u, so good luck man
Re: Update
what i did was have them remove the bolt, and asked if i could just install the spring right there while it was on the lift, which they agreed to since im a frequent customer, i just did it in the parking lot, and they buttoned it back up, and let me on my way, so they only charged me to remove the bolt, not installing the strut/shock too

Re: Update
must be nice. the one shop i go to frequently refused to do this job. and he's done me a lot of favors with my car, and my g/f's car.
Re: Update
when they got my bolt out, they had to use a swivel socket because of the location of the bolt and the lack of space, thats why i brought it up, cuz ull have to have one to use an impact
Re: Update
well if nothing else, just have em break the bolt free, cover it with anti-seize, and reinstall it so that u can get it back out, then u can wrap things up and get the drop done... i hate dealing with problems like this, my drop would have only taken me like 3 hours by myself, until this happened, which bumped it to about 6

Re: Update
mine went from like 5, to 8, and now it's still stock in the rear. on the positive, i did get a lot of experience removing and reinstalling the stock right rear shock. i never thought of having them just take it out, and put it back in with anti seize. i may be able to talk someone into doing that. ****, that shouldn't cost more than a 10 or 15 dollar tip at this one place.

Re: Update
damn i remember the same exact thing happened to me!! it would turn but then there was no more room for the breaker bar to move. my suggestion to you coming from experience is find a shop that has a lift spray a **** load of wd-40 and start the breaker bar as far back as possible then pull/push as far as opposite it can go. thats what i did. hope this helps.

Re: Update
thanks for the support, guys. pics will definitely be posted, once i get this worked out, and have time to take some decent shot.
i've decided the best thing to do is find a shop just to impact the bolt out, lube it up, and put it back, so i can get it out on my own later. i'm gonna try to DIY this whole thing, now the i've been given the idea if just using a shop for their impact wrench. if i can't find anyone to do that, i guess i'll just pay someone to install the rear. More DIY projects coming for me in the near future, too. I've purchased endlinks, and an rsx rear sway bar, now looking for the front. After i get front and rear sway bars, i'm probably done for this season, but we'll see what happens next summer.

Re: Update
hey when i watched robbclark work on my suspension, he took a long screwdriver and hammered the bolt out with a big socket wrench. just an idea if you can get the bolt halfway out and at least past the threads.

Re: Update
dont get the impact, it may not get it out. the shop i took mine to said it still wouldnt come out, which is why theyre cutting it once new parts get in.

Re: Update

Re: Update
My costco has a battery powered impact wrench for less then 100 bucks. It was like 50 or 80. I thought about buying it but havent, yet.
Sounds liked you need a buddy to push a screw driver from the backside of the nut, and you need to snap a socket on there and torque it off.
Or you could use the impact wrench trick with out a impact wrench, if you can get it in there and still have your buddy pushing the bolt through the net from the back-- get the socket on, and tap the end iwth a hammer. I've cracked many sockets using brute force, but never using this method.

Re: Update
man, i havent seen this idea yet but maybe you've tried it. i've had my suspension apart about 4 times now and this is what i've done every time because that bolt is always stubborn. can you look at it and make sure everything is lined up so the bolt can thread out correctly? i usually have to get an extra jack and place it under that spot on the strut and trailing arm and jack it up until everything is in line right, and sometimes i've physically stood on the trailing arm while someone threads/taps it out. you've probably already tried this one though. hopefully you get it out!

Re: Update
ehh, thanks for the help, but i tried everything. ended up cutting the bolt with a reciprocating saw, ruined the strut, but didn't mess up the bracket, and got the bolt out. it was seized up where it passes through the strut, and the bushing there gave it just enough play the impact wouldn't break it loose. but, the new stuff is on, and the alignment's done. check the link in my sig for pics. thanks again for the suggestions, tho.
