Exclamation Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

I am thinking of buying used springs ( for great price) eibach or tein s, i will have 205/55/16 tires and not sure if one inch drop is enough, i don't want to lose "stock" ride quality. if anybody on here has about same setup can you post a picture. Another question, and did my research, do i need camber kit? Some say you do some say you don't if you only drop it about a inch. Thanks in advance, will post pics and as soon as i get my tires mounted.

Re: Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

Also, will it be OK not to change the shocks/strut. And how many people here have drop lower than 1.75 and have no camber kit. Thanks

Re: Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

if you do not change your shocks they will eventually blow on you. people have had the shocks last a month, 6 months, and some even a year depending on how you drive. If you dont change the shocks, your ride will become very bouncy. Im lowered about 1.7 and dont have a camber kit, the camber is not too bad.

Re: Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

I would recommend you at least get a camber kit for the rear.

Re: Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

you suck at searching... syke fu said it. at least for the rear. a camber kit will help u preserve ur struts in the meantime before they blow. and not having struts dont go around with ur lowering springs thinking ur handling is gona be better and u can rip up tight corners...cuz that will just give ur struts more of a reason to blow. drive carefully...save up for struts/shocks and buy a camber kit while u still can.

Re: Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

thanks for all the relays, if i understand everything correctly, i do not NEED new shocks, but they're recommended, and camber kit is also recommended if a drop is 2 inches or more.

Re: Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

a camber kit is recommended no matter how much you drop. why do people have such a big issue with spending an extra $150 to do it right?? I would wait untill you have shocks, springs and a camber kit, and install them all at once. Then, you will save yourself the cost(or headache if you DIY) of taking it apart again to install the shocks, or camber kit. Just my .02, tho. You're going to end up doing what you want, regardless of what anyone says, I think.

exactly. just save up until you can buy EVERYTHING, and then do it. it's stupid to drop your car, then tear it back apart when you do buy a camber kit, and put it back together again and get another alignment. plus, i'd rather spend 150 dollars on something that is gonna make my 500 dollar tires last longer in the end. now, on a 1" drop you probably won't get much camber wear at all.

oh and also, an inch drop will probably be alright. i'm dropped on eibachs pro kit for an rsx and koni yellows and it looks alright. i think i like the drop sportlines give a lot better though. id drop my car more but the roads are just terrible where i live.

Re: Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

I have a set of Tein s-tech for sale. They were used less then 6 months. I took them off and installed eibach's pro-kit. The s-techs are made for the coupe but I had them on the sedan. They are still in good condition. The camber was horrible even with a camber kit so I decided to pick it up a little and the camber is good now. Just pm me if you're interested. It may take a few days to get back to you, but I will.

Just buy one on ebay for ~ $100 or less, I did and I'm glad since chewing up tires that cost over 100 a piece gets old fast.

Re: Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

even if it takes time to save the money wait. I'[m on school, still paying off my car, and saving money. Sure I'm riding around on a 800$ set of wheels and tires like a 4x4 but I rather wait and do it right......... and I almost have enough to drop and tint now!!!!!

Re: Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

used springs are fine, they outlast the car, just make sure you get the right ones. alot of them were made for coupe but sag on the sedan even tho the part is the same. its not too bad if you keep your trunk empty. i lowered 1 inch and its similar to stock ride. but eventually you need to upgrade the struts to something like tokico. oh and you need camber kit for any drop. also once everythings installed, you need alignment.

So what you saying is that springs will be ok without shocks if you dont push the car on the corners, planning on getting Eibach 1 inch all around, my tires are 205/55/16. Thanks

Re: Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

well yes you will need a camber kit reguardless of how little of a drop you do. The more you drop the quicker the wear will be on your tires. if you buy the tokico hp shocks be careful because in the box is a paper saying that the shocks can only handle up to a certain drop (if you are droppin an inch then you should be fine but if your trying to go 2.5 and above then be careful). As far as springs go. i have a set of eibachs i can sell you or a skunk2 coil over kit.

you shouldnt be cutting anything. camber kit, you cant really just install, it needs to be aligned properly afterwards. i hate being lowered i scraped my whole exhaust pipe twice today lol

because in the teins stechs box, theres a paper saying what kind of cut you should do while installing the springs. oh and btw, do you install, then get it aligned?because i know i needa get an alignment after i lower the car but... when do you add in the camber kit?

Re: Lowering my car, NEED HELP!!!!

you install everything first, shocks, springs, camber kit, then finally you get an alignment done. the camber kit you actually already have on your car, but you need to replace it with aftermarket one that can be adjusted to align a lowered car, otherwise stock will not be able to. you use the new camber kit to adjust the alignment (on a professional machine ofcourse)
