Coilover Question....

I was just PONDERING about Teins or any Coilovers, As some of you know the Teins dont go AS Low as most people want them to... I was thinking of something that MIGHT Work and make them lower another Finger or so (1/2")... I think when they are lowered all the way in the Front there is about a Finger Gap... But anyways Here's my theory and let me know if you think it would work or not:

Basically there are 2 (two) SPRING SEATS that lower the height yada yada yada... If somebody was to remove the LOWER Spring seat and slide the First Spring seat (the one that the Actual springs sits on) all the way down... Wouldn't that lower it alittle more to remove the rest of the gap??? This could work on most Coilovers not just TEINS.... So to shorten my theory... Basically if you remove one of the Spring seats and Leave one on...

But put your comments in if you thing it would work and Reasons if it wouldnt work...

Re: Coilover Question....

i dont think thats safe, the 2nd one helps to lock the upper one together so there is a lesser chance that it'll loosen or move when driving. it might also put more pressure on that one seat instead of two, and i'm not saying it'll break the seat..... but wil that added pressure.... go figure. if you really wanna get teins and ride it lower, get new shorter springs...... say teins are 2.5 diameter springs with hieght of 7 inches, get new ones that are 6 inches, thats probably the best way to do it, but personally i'm against lowering it that far down. and ride quality might not be the same. i'm guessing for sure that the shocks will bottom out if you hit a pot hole, but other wise, best of luck!

Re: Coilover Question....

get the tein typeflex. they can go lower than the basic and ss which would not go lower than 1 finger fender gap on the front.

And for you my friend... if everybody left everything the way it is, Nobody would be here today modding their cars. There are plenty of people on this site that would love there TEINs to go lower, You cant solve that until somebody is the Guinea Pig.

Re: Coilover Question....

I'm pretty satisfied with my ss, I lowered them all the way down in the front without removing one of the seats and there was no gap, and that's on 15's. I was actually scraping my front lip everywhere in that height.
btw, I don't recomend removing one of the seats since the two are supposed to lock to each other to be able to support the weight and not move or get siezed, so having only one wouldn't be a very good idea...

i assumed that the topic was about coilovers and no other. again, respect how they are made. if you think youre brighter than the engineers that made them, then go and remove the locking seat.

goodluck buddy

no...have you looked at the suspensions?? Seriously!?!

As for the author, you can get shorter springs from tein or from hypercoil, or any coilover manufacturer. I do think shorter springs will negatively affect performance and safety given the shocks aren't meant to go that low.

Re: Coilover Question....

i think if the springs were shortened, the shaft will hit the base.
