stripped bolt

i have a pretty serious problem, first, im getting the popping sound from a bad install, my fault, and to further this problem, my idiot self used a 9/16ths wrench on the upper bolt, and rounded it, and cannot remove it to fix the popping sound, what the hell can i do to get the bolt off of the top of the strut(rear btw) since its rounded and all???? i thought about using an impact, but sadly dont have one, but using a socket wont work, because you have to use an allen wrench as most of u know, what the hell do i do??????

they sell sockets that get stripped bolts off (same concept as the screwdriver bits that get stripped phillip-head screws out)

i'd say to head down to ACE and/or OSH tomorrow

if ypu want a pic to show them what the socket looks like, i can have one for you tomorrow afternoon...

socket wont work, i have one of those, but when you turn the bolt, you have to use an allen wrench at the same time to hold the strut in place while you remove the bolt, i already tried it that, thanks tho....

hmm.. guess i misunderstood the first post. oh well...

still don't know why you need an allen wrench to hold it in place....

how about filing down two sides of the bolt, then using a monkey wrench?

at lowes they sell a socket set that is open so you can use a rachet and the allen to keep it from moving.

craftsman bolt out kit. it has a open center so you can use the allan at the same time. use a deep socket to hammer it on then turn it out with a wrench around the bolt out nut. its easy. i had to remove some lug nuts with some of these because i didnt recieve the lug key when i bought a car
