Understeer, how to fix?

Alright guys first what I have. 02 EX coupe,Lowered on eibach sportlines so about 1.75-2.00" drop, Tokico blues, neuspeed front strut bar, progress rear sway bar. This is not a car that goes to the track just a daily driver that likes to enjoy a little spirited driving. So i've noticed that when pushing it harder through some sharp turns it feels like my front tires are sliding. So if im correct this is understeer? My question is how can I get it back to a little bit of oversteer? Or is it safer like it is??

If your front tires are losing grip it's understeer. It is 'safer' for most drivers. You can try different techniques to induce a neutral line... such as easing off the gas (not going from WOT to abrupt lift off) or left foot braking..... I think the only time front drives can have oversteer (without e-brake) is on turn in. Exitting a corner, understeer is the usual fron drive trademark.

Its safer as is... cars are easier to control with the front end pointed in the direction of travel.
Theres lots ot things that can be done to reduce it.... eliminating it all together is a bit impractical because of the car's weight distribution.
Bigger rear sway bar, more front camber, better tires, smaller front sway bar are 4 individual things I can think of right now. DON'T do all 4 at once.

I have to ask what are you as a driver doing when the car is understeering? and when is the car understeering? "pushing it harder through some sharp turns" really doesnt give us the proper information to tell you what may need to be adjusted. what would help would be when in the turn is the car understeering (entry, mid turn, exit) and what you are doing as a driver in these turns,(on the brakes, on the gas, nutural throttle, increasing steering inputs, decreasing steering imputs, ect ect ect..)

Car is understeering mid turn is when I can remember it. Im on the gas, and just driving through the turn, dont think im increasing steering, maybe if the turn gets sharper but I dont think so.
Im still trying to learn as you can tell.

ok, much better. with the car understeerin mid turn and you on the gas at the time, you could be dealing with two things. 1. Too much front bias in your spring/antiroll bar rates And Or 2. too much throttle = power on understeer.

Try the cheeper fix 1st... as the car starts to understeer with you on the gas, reduce the throttle. The way it was explained to me... Think about it this way. your steering wheel controls how much brake or throttle you can use in a turn. the more its turned away from dead center, the less brake or throttle you can use with out causing handling issues. in this case throttle on understeer.

for the other possible problem, you can do a multitude of things. from re-working your spring/anti-roll bar balance to tweaking your alignment. depends on what you want to get in to.

I'll just try the first fix and if that doesnt work. Just slow down some, lol. Thanks guys. I want it to be the safest most of all, and apparently understeer is safer than spinning out hehe, that makes sense now that I think about it. I'll just leave it like it is since its safer that way.

Thats probably the best idea. With a little tweaking of your driving you can get quite a bit out of the car.

a little Light reading for you...
