springs installed, but..

hey guys
i did a search, but not much i could find, and im really wanting to get some answers..i'll try and keep it short.

-bought a pair of used progress springs (used for a year, off the owners car for almost a year)

-wanting to replace my h&r 1.3" drop with these new 1.8-2.0" drop (did my research on this site about progress springs)

-running 17" on 205/45/17

had them installed 3 days ago, but they are sitting the same IF NOT higher than my h&r.. so this got me worried. i know they have to settle in a bit, but i mean to settle down to the 2" drop it has to settle 3 inches?!

the fronts seem ok, but my rear is high, and everyone says progress should drop ur rear..so im confused ??

questions are:
1. do these still need to settle even tho they are used, and for how long?

2. the garage that installed them installed the rear springs with the more compressed part (progressive part) at the bottom, but i thought the more progressive parts are supposed to be near the upper strut (under the wheel well) ? tried to take them out and reverse them, but since they taper, it wont fit on the shock ? could it be for a rsx (as they suggested?) -basically, is it upsidedown?

3. am i worrying over nothing, and time should settle my springs?

i really am curious bc it just wasn't what i expected. i have maybe 2 finger up front, and 3 in the rear..i want the 1.8-2 !!
THANKS A LOT GUYS!

*any pics of how you installed the progress springs would be cool too!

1. yes,the springs need to resettle. whether they are used or not has nothing to do with the springs already being settled in or not. when you decompress a springs, and recompress it, it needs to settle again.

2.the shop is correct. The dead coils are supposed to be at the bottom of the strut/shock. the more compressed part is supposed to be at the bottom.

3. yes, the best thing you can do is just go out and drive the car!
I highly reccomend investing in some new shocks. For that much of a drop, you should get koni's and nothing less. Your stockers won't last long unless you live in a car utopia with no curbs and bumps in the road.

Yeah, you could probably last a while runnning neuspeed sports but this guys on progress springs which have a pretty aggressive drop, a little more than neuspeed sports. I'm predicting a bouncy *** ride w/ the progress springs so upgraded struts/shocks would be on my list.

thank you!
i was getting worried that there were many views, but no replies!
thanks for your input guys (ckim) !

speaking of shocks, my front pass is already blown and have looked up on the sticky about shocks..

what is a reasonable priced shock? and is adjustabe necessary for the progress drop? or non adjustable (like the tok. blues) will be ok?

unless your going for a slammed ride the tokico blue HP struts are awesome. I voted them over my koni's even unless your going Dspec

could it be possible that these are rsx springs? hence they're not sitting right?

get koni or i personally recommend d-specs from tokico because they are often times cheaper and better for ride quality

..well it's been around a week since i got them installed
still not a big significant difference

still too short to make a conclusion?
need more time to settle still?

i think the front went a little lower, but my rears are still pretty high (3 finger)
its getting me pissed, bc (like my earlier post) im thinking maybe this is a rsx spring (thats wut my install shop told me it might be)

i bought them used, and there is no part no. on the box or on the springs itself..

suggestions? comments?

did you install them into a sedan or coupe?
my mechanic told me that RSX (which is a coupe) springs can fit both civic sedan AND coupe, but if you install it in a sedan, the rear will sag..
whenever you install a coupe springs into a sedan, the rear sags, so if that is really RSX springs, it shouldn't cause problem if you drive a coupe, thus, it'll sag in the rear if u drive a sedan.
my wild guess is that, u prolly just bought the wrong springs

it shouldn't take THAT long to let the springs settle.. i don't think any springs would sag and/or settle for 3 god damn inches man !!

i have an 04 coupe but the springs were used on an 02 sedan (the springs are meant for either coupe or sedan 01-05 except 4 dr EX's)
