EP3 front shock absorber same as 03-05 non si

i was wondering if the ep3 front shocks were the same as the 03-05 em2/es1/2

because my issue is i have ractive coilovers and the rears fit fine on the stock shocks but but my fronts are 55mm strut housing because i have an 04 and the sleeves wont fit over the strut...

since the bottom alignment bolts are 16mm and tokico makes only 14mm ones for the 01-02 if i get the ep3 blues which are 16mm alignment bolts will my ractive sleeves which are 50mm strut based sleeve fit over the strut so i can install it onto my car?

i need this quick cuz riding with coils on the back and stock on front is killing my car and im trying not to drive as much as possible before i get shocks and springs completely installed

Xenin is an unknown quantity at this point
actually early EP3s have 14mm crashbolts as well.

ah ic...but on www.hondaautomotiveparts.com they have for the 03-05 16x62 crashbolts...and tokico's website has listed that the si has a slightly different shock

# for the 01-02 is HB3204 and HB3205
while the # for the 02 si is HB3204A and HB3205A (notice the A)

EDIT: i just read that the 02-05 ep3 si's all have 16mm crashbolt sizes which started in 02 than got adapted to the coupes and sedans for 03 which then it used exactly the same setup

They should fit, but you might need new upper mounts. I am not sure though. You will have to look at the schematics from www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

What sleeves do you have? Some fit, and some don't. I thought 02 Si had 14mm bolt holes?

i have ractive 50mm sleeves which are meant for the 01-02 with the 50mm struts...i checked and im pretty sure the 02 si ep3 has 16mm which they brought and put on the 03+ all civics...cant be 100% but im pretty sure...so if i get the tokico models for the 02+ si my coilovers and bolt holes should fit correct?

I don't know man. The Si might be 55mm. I would call tokico and ask them 1) what the mount holes are for he 02 Si shocks and 2) what size is the shock (50 or 55mm).

The part numbers are the same on tokico's site, but there is an A next to the Si ones. There must be something different about them.

well i called tokico and they said that the 02 si has the 16mm crash bolt sizes but where the tire rod connects to needs to be drilled out slightly bigger to accomodate the larger tie rod bolt on the 03+

alrighty, then you will need to drill out the steering arm. it has to remain tapered.

also robb i was wondering what size the tie rod is on the 02 si?...cuz i looked on www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and for the 03 si(they dont have 02 listed) its 10mm and the 2001 - 2005 all of the tie rod nuts are 10mm (17mm socket size) i was wondering if it would even require modification to fit

Well the nut can still be 10mm and have different inside diameters. The choice you have to make now is where do you want to drill. Either way you are going to be doing some drilling for either the mount holes (if you buy EM2 shocks) or the steering arm (if you buy EP3 shocks). I suggest buying the EM2 ones, and dremmeling the holes. They don't have to be perfect, just as round as you can make them to fit a 16mm bolt through. I say this because although the steering arm can still function without a tapered hole, it is better to have it tapered as not to allow much play. It is hard to tell from these pics the size of the tie rod end. Although my JICs are for the EP3 and they fit fine...

Remember the steering arm holes have to stay tapered.

rears are the same on the rsx, ep3, and 01-05 civics...but the fronts you would prolly need to drill out the steering arm hole to match your oem one...if its different that is...the ep3 originally started with 16mm crash bolts which than later got put on the 03-05s....but im on my search for a full coilover set
