Quick almost retarded question

I know someone has to have run into this problem before. Maybe i'm just an idiot and need to be shot. That's for later discussion.
anyways.. this is the stock front spring and housing

this is the approximate size of the coil overs they sell for 01-05 civics

is it just me, or is the stock base on the shocks a bit bigger than needed?

When i installed my coilovers, when i jack up the car, the spring just moves around all over the shock, when i lower it back down and turn the steering wheel, it makes a creaking noise.

is there anything that can be done about this, short of buying a complete set.

thanks for the help

most aftermarket springs are meant to be used with aftermarket shocks which are shorter slightly...but on stock shocks and springs, the springs are much larger so when the car is not getting its weight supported by the springs/shocks its loose

yeah, and with coil sleeves, the springs are gonna be a lot smaller than stock front springs.

Well its clear to me you don't have a damn clue what it is you bought. So maybe you should have heeded the search button advice. If you knew what coilovers were, you'd know what you were dealing with, and they type of spring they came with, why they're dimensioned the way they are and wouldn't be asking an after the fact question like "is this the right thing?"
Knowing what you were buying would also answer why the spring moves around when you raise the car up. Not having a clue also answers the knocking sound when you turn the wheel.... ****ed up something in the install. So simply put, you could have solved all of your "problems" by doing some homework ahead of time.
Oh, one more thing while i'm rolling..... that coilover kit, looks like junk. Getting rid of it all together may be the best thing you could do, not to mention you did it on stock shocks, which is breaking cardinal rule #1.

Sigh....

A) those are not my coilovers, that was a picture i used to represent the shape and size of EVERY set of coilovers (sleeved) they sell for our cars.

B) yes i realize that its not a great idea to roll around on stock shocks, but then again when i DID do my research, i never really came across this exact situation. I knew alot of people had problems with noise and shifting, that i'm aware of.

C) And it shouldn't matter in the first damn place if I searched or not. I do agree that there is some dumb crap that gets asked over and over, but its not like i asked if i needed a camber kit. I'm so damn tired of the same crap being said on every thread. Most the time someone pops off with "Search Noob" even if they don't know the answer themself. If everyone searched for every single thing, you douche bags wouldn't ever have the oppertunity to sit on here and ever talk about anything else. ESPECIALLY "search noob"

thanks

i mean it was just the fact that it wasn't even the question they are flaming, which bugs me.

I did not ask "hey did anyone else know that this happens"

I DID ask "hey does anyone know if there is anything to help ease the problem"

I don't think that is such a big deal
