OMG!! Installed TEIN BASIC but got a problem..

Hi.
Just installed TEIN BASIC last Monday.(03 civic coupe EX)
But it makes loud noise from the front whenever I turn the wheel.
The mechanic told me that it's a normal sound for 7thgen coilovers and it will go away after few days. Also the preowner of coilover told me that the noise will go away after few days, but it will come back whenever the weather is cold.

hummm.. What should I do? It's really loud and so stressful.
Is there any solution that I can do for it?

-STEVE

yeah, the sounds are ok.. i had em on my SS Tein coilovers. Josh Jacquot ( editor of S. compact car) took a look at my car and told me ill be ok but if i wanted to take apart my coilovers and reinstall them just to be 100% certain then to do it but it was no big deal. he said all coilovers make noises, no matter from what company or line.

my tein SS have never even made so much as a squeak. I don't think noises from coilovers are normal.

who installed the basics? when does the noise happen?

I hope they dont make noise. Im getting mine installed Monday!

Maybe contact Tein to see what they have to say? If this is something
that is normal then I would think they would say so. I guess?

hmm.. never happen to me i have 03 coupe. I replace my 03 to 01 upper mount and bearing

For it order to make the noise go away. You need 2001 upper mount and bearing. Go do a search.

Update.. Got them (Teins basics) installed and I dont have any noise from the front. However I do hear noise from the back when I go over small bumps. Im thinking that might be normal due to the spring compressing to deal with bumps in the road.

Since Im a newbie Im not sure exactly what to expect in terms of noise levels but man the car drives like a dream! Im amazed at how the car handles from a 2inch drop!

make sure you cut your dust covers in the rears. im dropped on basics and cut ther dust boot before i installed them and they still made noise. then i went back and almost cut the entire dust boot off..... i think i left about an inch on it and no more thumping when i hit bumps. try it

Hell I guess you guys are right. Today I drove the car and the rear springs are not making nearly the same amount of noise as yesterday.

I would say its closer to a bad bed sping noise. Its sounds like a hotel bed during rought sex (not to offend anyone ( - :=

Hopefully its gone for good.

ow ok... i have the same noise, but it's more like a minimal bed spring noise during rough sex w/ out the headboard hitting the wall noise... I think it's the rubber coating on the spring that makes that noise... i just turn my music louder

Im pretty sure its your dust covers, cut them about an .5-1" and you'll be good, ASSUMING thats your problem, I had a sound sorta like the sound you get when you crush a soda can...if thats the sound, then your problem is what I mentioned above...otherwise my tein's dont make any noise whatsoever

there shouldnt be any noise from the upper mounts..assuming you have the right ones installed. Green is for after sept. 03 and gold is before sept. 03. the upper mount issue is for the fronts. if the noise is coming from the rear, then you have to cut the dust boots. i cut mine on time before i put the coilovers together only one inch and it wasnt enough. i still got noise coming from the rear. then i cut them an inch more and the noise is gone. the noise is the spring compressing over bump and the dust boot hitting the bottom of the shock where the bumpstop is. just cut the whole thing from the start.

i dont care what he said. its BULL....i just put mine on a week ago. I have an 05. they have two different sets of upper mounts that they send you in the box. One set for 01-03 (gold) and another for 04-05 (green). dont know who you talked to at TEIN but i made sure before i ordered mine that they would come with the upper mounts and they also told me they would.
GO HERE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF (installation manual) page #7

That's because you asked the wrong thing... Tein doesn't replace the upper mount, they replace the spring seat that goes inside the upper mount... the green one (part #USS01-H2735) is for 2004+ Civics and the gold one (part #USS01-E1242) is for 2001-2003 Civics.
