Noise After Spring Install!

I just got my TEIN S. Tech springs installed today at the shop! However after installation was completed the technician who installed them notified me that when the steering wheel is turned either direction during moderate to hard turns, the spring is not moving in unison with the strut! In other words, the spring itself is actually slipping on the mounting plate when i turn the wheel and it makes a clunking sound! Other than the springs my suspension is bone stock! I also have 17" wheels! Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best way to fix this problem?

It shouldn't do that. Mine is making creaking sounds, but nothing big. Some friends did mine and really there's not much you can mess up if you've done it before. Take it back and make him fix the problem.

I wrote a DIY on this long time ago. There not seated correctly! When he takes the fronts back apart he will see that the rubber peice on the top is molded for the springs (the oem ones) so that it's deep at one point and gets shallow. Sometimes the springs line up perfect if they start and end in the same spot. If not he will have to pop out the rubber peice and rotate it where it's seated right. Another way to do it is take out the rubber peice look and the indentation the oem spring left (will still be there). Match up the end of the new tein spring w/the indentation and then put the metal cap, bushing, and nut on.

If you want to cry and whine about this then go ahead, just take your car back to the mechanic and have it fixed, end of story.

Mine used to make creaking noises when going to bumps. I checked the shock and springs and found out that one of my rubber bushings was missing. So I bought one from honda, like six bucks. Lubes it with wd-40 and I dont hear it anymore.

ya we tore the stock rubber things trying to get the tie rod bolt off. I'm not too worried cause it only makes the noise going over driveways and bumps.

So, were back to square one, the tech is a dumbass if he didnt seat the rubber isolator. Any good suspension tech knows that the rubber isolator and spring must be seated properly.

Oh man, someone lock this already.

For the record, I had this problem too when my H&R's were installed, and we couldn't figure it out cause the "spring/strut indexing" thing hadn't even crossed our minds. Install took 8 hours of a day trying to figure it out and we eventually gave up. I don't know how, but after the springs had settled the noise lessened and by the time I swapped out to Hayame coilovers were nonexistent (no I hadn't gotten used to them). Maybe the several billion huge potholes I ran over during that time jarred the assembly into place, ha ha.
