Q about Tie Rod Ends

Just a quick n00b question for you wise folk:

I recently had a camber kit put on and was going to have it aligned, but the shop said I needed new tie rod ends, which I've since gotten. I asked at the dealer what could cause them to break, and one of the suggestions he had was heavy cornering, which I do a lot of (it's fun). So it ocurred to me to ask you guys whether or not getting a strut bar (front upper or lower, I'm guessing) would redruce any of the strain caused on the tie rod ends, or if they only reduce frame warping. Anyone know?

TIA,

- Blue

I don't see why the shop would say you need new tie rod ends. Could you turn? If you could turn then they shouldn't be broken. I think you got ripped off. Tie rod ends usually don't break. The only thing that could be wrong is someone stripped the bolt. I don't think a strut bar would affect the tie rod ends at all. It would reduce chassis flex but wouldn't do much for the tie rod ends.

Tie rod ends can also break if you run into a curb with your wheels.

$60 ea from the dealer but partznet.com has them for $75 a pair. That's where I just got mine from.

Actually my dealer overnighted them for $50 so it wasn't a great big deal ..

But yeah, the alignment shop said they couldn't align my car without replacing them. Hmm, Maybe I should check another place and see what they say

ANyways, thanks for answering the question .. I kinda thought a sway bar wouldn't help, though it would still be nice to have.
