whats up. ok, i know this is probably going to get flamed because theres a "clanking" suspension thread already...but...whatever.
i put on my stock springs and took off the front strut bar and camber kit last night. then today the left side clanked twice on my way to work. weird thing is it wasnt on any big turns taken at high speed or anything. actually, the turn i took the fastest didnt have any clanking.
im not sure what it might be, but i know i tightened everything well in the rear and the front...i checked. the only thing that i forgot to do was to bend the little tabs on top of the spring on the front left. i also didnt have any grease for the seal on the top thing (the thing that has the 3 bolts and it connects to the thing that sits right over the top of the spring...yeah, those are the technical terms) haha...anyway, i didnt have grease so i just took off some of the sand/dirt and put them back together.
also, one of my bump stops was cracked on one side, its pretty much busted from bottoming out, but the shock didnt seem like it was blown. no oil leackage or anything like that.
i have 40k (ish) miles on it, and the lease runs out in december. should i bother taking it to honda and asking them to take a look at it (and not tell them that i dropped it or anything)...i know theres an unofficial recall for 2001 shocks, but im not under warantee anymore because im over the miles (i think)...unless these things are still covered regardless of warantee.
so what should i do? can this be caused by the little tabs not being bent to hug the spring? i cant imagine so, but someone tell me if that might really be the reason.
like i said, it only clunked 2 times so far...and i was going over bumps to try and repeat it but i couldnt do it. ill post an update later tonight, but what do you guys think?
