shock install help

i just followed the DIY spring install, and im trying to get the shock back in, im having trouble attaching the bottom of the shock to the control arm, its a really tight fit and cant get the holes to match up right so the bolt wont go in, am i doing something wrong or is it like this?

front or rear? If rear, get someone to push on the control arm.

7Gnoob is an unknown quantity at this point
I had to jack up on the strut a bit to get it to line up perfect.

yeah you can either loosen or push down on the control arm or jack the strut up from the bottom.

There shouldn't be any hammering. I used a floor jack placed under the part of the strut just under the springs, not where the strut bolts on. Got it as close to lining up as i can, the you can shift the jack back and fourth till it lines up.

I used an 11mm socket and put it on top of the floor jack, and used that to push the shock up. Just slide the floor jack with the socket under the shock and notched out area of the control arm. Slightly jack up the strut until you can wiggle in the bolt.
