Spring Install

A few weeks ago, me, my stepdad, and his cousin went to install my springs. Well, he wanted to see how hard it would be to get the tie rod off and he was having trouble. He was scared that we would mess up the tie rod ends and I dont have money to get it fixed if we did mess them up. So, whats the chance of us really messing them up? We decided not to do it because it was memorial day weekend and me and some friends were going down to the beach that night which is like an hour drive. Anyone had the same problem? Any suggestions?

With the proper $10 tie rod/pittman arm puller from autozone, its impossible to screw up. If you use the pickle fork or a hammer, the chances of messing up are far higher.

Easy way to do it. Get a hammer and the strut housing where it connects to the tie rod end about 20 times. And hit it hard. then make sure the nut is on the last few treads of the tie rod end and hit it to knock the tie rod out. Check out the DYI on the springs. I pretty sure its shown how to do it with pics.
