Fitment
Fitment
Has anyone here managed to fit a '02-'03 Civic front struts to a '01 Civic ? There has been an issue about the difference in the strut bolt sizes which secure the strut to the front kncucle arms. Would like to know if the strut will fit nicely/ tightly or would it throw off the alignment with time ? Also is there any difference in the spring perch height ?
Boiler dude, so will I be able to fit the '03 struts into a '01 using the smaller '01 bolts ? I can't use the bigger bolts as they will not fit into the knuckle arms. The thing is the crash bolt holes on the strut of the '03 are larger and this will cause the struts to move under hard impact.

You'd need to bore the holes in the 01 knuckles out to 16mm to use the 03 struts, and you'd have to use 03 crash bolts. Not worth it, just get 01 or 02 struts.
From what I have read in the forum, the '03s have larger diameter strut housings of 53 or 55mm compared to the '01s with 50mm. I believe these shocks are better as the suspension has improved over the batches of 7th gen civics from 01 to 04. Any idea on the cost of a '03 knuckle arm ?
