EX exhuast conversion issue...

I will be getting an ex exhuast conversion soon with hp header and a hf-cat.
My question is, I have a 2001 dx coupe, manuel tranny, and I want to know if there will be any fitment issues.. I know it's unothodox... But for an ex, what are the fitment issues with the manual trans., it's 1 peice to the down pipe, and the hf-c is a 2nd peice, so I think it's the 2 peice model.

I should be able to fit it fine, just like an ex, but what about any hangers near the middle of the exhuast system? or are they near the high flow cat?

thx for any help with this.

I will extend my 02 sensors, and skip the 02 simulator due to the check engine turning off after around 2k miles; sourced from my freind with an ex, who is selling me the header.
I just need to know about the actually header fitment, and pipe fitment.

Thanks again,
Craig

Yes there will be fitment issues until after the cat. After the cat I believe they are all the same.

you will need to replace your front swaybar with an ex swaybar...the dx swaybar isn't really bent enough to clear the stock ex cat...but you might be able to get by with the hp cat...

as for the hangers..their placements are identical for any trim

so, will I be able to bolt the headers up like a normal header installation, and thenclear the sway, or replace it, and the cat hangers should fit close or perfect? (at work sorry)

the check engine light will come on, and you may have to extend the o2 sensor, but for xtreme2k2civic (juan), his check engine light went off after about 2k miles...

however, be aware, he does not have ecu testing, and I cannot be sure, personally, that your codes will be fine, but the check engine light does go away aparently...

it will be a good test.. try it without the o2 sim.

want to do what? get hp headers, or convert to an ex exhuast?
I'm sure we can do it, more than likely i may just have to have a pipe to cover what small gap from the cat-backs mid-pipe to the hf-c pipe. O2 sensor wiring is not hard, and i will do it without an o2 sim and try to pass, and let you guys know what happens.. I'll keep you updated, but I may need a little help along the line.

I would swear dx's didn't have sway bars.. could I not just remove them for a few hours till i coulld get to a junk yard with an ex or an rsx?

Thanks again.

u need ex cat back... or cut ur lx mid pipe and weld it on after that "high flow cat"... the lx/dx mid pipe is longer.

dx have front sways... u can remove them and go find an ex one.. just dont do any crazy turns...

you need ex. the rsx front sway doesn't fit if u want that silly high flow cat.

and yes, all u gotta do is extend ur o2 sensor wiring.

header might have trouble clearing the motor mount... some needs to shave of a bit of the motor mount... from the pictures I've seen, it seems quite a bit.

is't shaving the motor mount a bad idea though?, I mean in a general sense, it would leave less support for the motor... maybe it really doesn't matter, but yeah. I figured i wouldn't need an o2 simulator.

if i got an ex sway bar it would be better, assuming i could take turns even faster? why slower if i have a better sway bar?
becuase I cut traffic a desent deal of the time, and i like to turn someone fast sometimes.. please explain cap...

I might just have a shop do it, maybe if i get enough info and it's not to much work i can do it with a friend or 2.

thx..

er..

the ex front sway isn't any bigger or better... it just has a shape to it that allows you to use the HP header with the highflow cat.. it doesn't block the cat.

since the LX doesn't have a cat convertor on the bottom of the car.. its on the top with the header... so the LX/DX etc comes with a sway bar that isn't bend...

a sway bar woudln't do much in a situation like cutting through traffic.. not that I can imagine..

unless you're doing it very very fast... and like back and fort... which is dangerous anyway... and you should worry about ur tire traction capability before you think about the sway bars.

sways do more in turns.... not lane change. heh.

tire traction? I'm running 3 federal low-pros and a yokohama low pro for the driver rear tire.
You mean without a sway bar period?

that's is why i like the old double wishbone..

I see, ok, maybe I can find a ex sway at a junk yard. I might have to wait another week or 2 if it will be that much more work.. more parts for the install mean more time to get money.. lol
