koni problem...help!

Ive got an 01 Acura 1.7el(canada)...same as the 01 civic ex 4dr but looks alot nicer. It has macphearson strut and the problem with that is the stock shock/ strut are welded together. I got a used pair of koni yellow cartrigdes and usually, you would take out the factory cartridge and slide the new koni in its place. I was told that even if I bought the koni's brand new, I would still be in the same predicament. Im also looking into buying the 02 factory peices that I need, but Im still waiting on a price.

Ive been on many messege boards seeking some guidance...help...everyone is saying I gotta get someone to cut the factory pieces to put in the koni.

thanks

go to the diy section and look at the intsallation of the fronts. yes. gutting the stock strut is needed to intall the koni insert. Search please, and you will find lots of information.

did you do any research before you bought these? It seems it would make sense to at least figure out what you're buying before you buy them.
You gotta cut the strut apart to install the koni.
Even if you buy new parts, you still gotta cut them up to get the konis in.

thanks....I did research it...but I was told the koni's would just slide in. The shops obviously didnt know anything about the 01 suspension. Even after I told them it was macphearson struts....oh well...I got the front koni's used @ $80 CDN...which is an offer I couldnt refuse. I got the rears in no prob.
