i put a set of goldlines on my 03 coupe and the front is lower than the rear. i have searched this topic on cutting coils and people say you can cut the dead coils?
would this pertain to my problem with the goldlines
i just want the rear to be 1 to 1 1/2 inch lower
any advice would be greatly appreciative

well most likely the front is gonna be lower becasue of all the weight up there and cutting them would be a bad idea because of the ride and possibly damaging other suspension pats ..ie..don't do it..just get some springs that drop lower!!
what version goldline ssprings are you using? if you have 2nd version.(which fixed rear sagging problem) then you could try to get older version or goldline coupe springs and rear will sag..
dont cut your springs. just get different springs, you could get progress.those springs sags on rear

well i got the v2's from goldline, so i called them and explained the problem , i talked to the owner and he said he had a set of older goldlines sittin in the warehouse, he's like " they are a little dirty" so i said no problem , i just want them..so he ended up shipping them to me and when i opened the box they are brand new, no dirt on them at all. so im thinking he sent me the same rear springs i have on the car right now, the V2's..im thining if i cut the rears in the same spot where the coil sits in the perch i shouldnt have any problem, i know your not suppost to cut them but i figure if there is any problem i could always throw back on the other set of UN-cut goldlines.
They only need to be a bit lower and it would look perfect!

well, if taht's a risk you're willing to take then go ahead, but like the others said, i wouldn't recommend cutting it
hmm, my rear is a ton lower than my front. dont know what the problem with yours is.
i have searched and i believe a post by VNlilman said that you can cut out "dead coils" which means coils that touch each other when on the car. Another thing i heard about cutting coils is that you cannot use heat, so i was thinking about cutting them with a saw. So if i just cut one of the dead coils do you think i would be putting myself in a bad situation, i mean is 1 coil going to do that much?? I figured if i cut more than 1 maybe 2 then i would be seriously pushing it, i am just thinking about this, i havent done anything yet. just trying to get the most info i can before i do anything
hmm too much work cutting springs dont you think? why not just sell your goldlines and buy sleeved coilovers? such as skunk2 or gc. and you can adjust height .
well what i was thinking of doing is since i have an extra set of rear goldline coils is taking a coil out of them and putting them on in place of my existing goldlines, and then if anything acts up i can always replace them with the goldlines in my car rite now. kinda confusing, but since i already have an extra set, i see whats the harm? it sure beats spending 300 on a set of sleeved coilovers which are going to ride just as bad as cutting the coils as it is. so i figure what the heck
hey i gotta question? i always wondered when ya cut the spring and your car goes over like a huge speed bump and you do this airborne hop isn't there a chance of the spring falling off the perch or something? I had a Malibu at one point and time and cut the OEM springs on it and my mom said the springs fell off and cut all four tires and she had to get it towed!! i never saw it butthat's what she said!
hmm..so your saying the spring is going to fall outta the perch if u cut 1 coil? i thought if there were dead coils, that means they actually bunch up together so i figured there would still be pressure from the exisiting coils and weight of the car to make sure they didnt fall out. i am no expert, i am just looking for advice.

no no no i was asking a question to!! i was wondering if it would fall off because even though it has all that wait on there what if you accidentally hit a bump going a little fast then your car hops then all that weight comes off the sring then what? i was jus asking !! does anyone know?
dont have a clue. i dont know how a coil can fall out?? nahh, i dont think its possible
dude wtf.. you guys could have just asked me...
goldline rears higher??? wtf are you serious? everyone i talked to, the goldline rears were like 1"-2" LOWER than the front. maybe try and call them again? i'm sure they have ALOT of olf goldline springs laying around seeing how alot of people got theirs replaced.
but ya i said it before and i'll say it again cutting a DEAD COIL has no effect on the spring rate. these are coils that touch together when the car is on the ground. If it wasnt a dead coil then ya it would effect the spring rate so i wouldnt recommend you cut those.
but ya the whole purpose of the dead coils is to keep the springs in place.(answering mr modify's question) theres a possibility that the spring will fall out of place(if you cut the coil) BUT the chances are slim. it would mean your car's suspension would have to raise what 4" in order for the springs to pop out. i dunno bout ya'll but if your hitting bumps with a lowered car to get 4" off the ground(well not the tires but you know what i mean) then you shouldnt be driving a lowered car. what if when your taking your car in for service and jacking up the car, eh its possible and i've heard a couple stories where it has but i dont think its a major problem when just cutting 1 coil. when i was attempting to install my springs i compared the stock uncompressed to neuspeed sports uncompressed and i found that the neuspeeds were slightly longer. this means that even if i did cut a dead coil off my neuspeeds, it would still stay intact and not pop out cause it would still be preloaded.
so ya in short, its best to not cut it and just use the right springs BUT if you have to, its not a real big deal in most cases.

well goldline sent me an extra set of rear springs and they said they were the Version 1 rears...the guy on the phone said "they were a little dirty" and when i recieved them they were brand new condition..no dirt at all. so im guessing they send me a set of V2 for the rear which i already have on my car.
So i think i have 2 sets of rear goldlines V2's for my civic coupe
Is there anyway to check and see if i have the V1's or V2's that they sent me ???

nope, unfortunately they werent smart enough to put new part numbers on the new springs. they just simply used the old part number. i knew problems would arise but they never listened...
well i guess the only way i will know is if i put on the ones they sent me on the rear, hopefully they will make my car lower in the rear, will i know right away?
