RSX sway bar on 02 civic coupe. Help?
Ok, I did use the search button first. I also looked on the net at the various sway bars/tie bars, etc.
I'm confused. Some say that you MUST beef up the suspension mounting points with a re-enforcing plate, and some say that the bigger sway bar will be fine by itself.
I got an RSX 19mm swaybar. Can I just bolt it on and use a normal tie bar? Or will the bigger bar eventually rip out the 4 mounting bolts?
I don't drive crazy, but like to be able to turn on a dime.
Suggestions?

the 19mm will probably not hurt anything without a tie bar. Yes, you can get a generic tie bar to brace the chassis.

Ok, what I was referring to was this extra thick plate that everything bolts through. I am ordering a tie bar today.
Look here regarding the "plate" as an example.

Several others make similar plates, claiming that the frame of the car needs to be re-enforced with this plate whenever bigger sway bars are used.
Anyone had any problems without using this? I am guessing since the RSX-S does not have this to beef up IT"S frame, it must be ok. But I just want to be sure.

Those plates are attached to the bar. Progress, neuspeed and ST all have integrated tie bars, which are those plates. Tie bars do the same thing as those plates. They are just integrated with the bar. The ones with integrated ties are usually larger than 20mm.
The theory is tiebars only work for bars 21mm+ on older Hondas but the design in our subframe has improved compared to the older generations. There's a chance we might not need a tie bar, unless someone actually has ripped the bar off their subframe with a 22mm bar.
Anyone want to say it's happened before?
