front upper sway bar install

Ok I did search, couldn't find a DIY for a upper sway bar install. Very quickly and simply, How do I do it (its a DC sports Front sway bar). I hope it is as easy as NOT lifting the car, removing the nuts, put down sway bar and nuts go back down, if that is the case do they need to be torqued to a certin setting? Thanks in advance.

There is no Front upper Sway bar. its called a Strut bar or a tie bar.

a Strut bar/Tie bar is a chassis reinforcement.
A sway bar (AKA Anti-rollbar) is a suspension componant that does much the same job as your springs.

No worries, they are easily confused due to the similar names.

they are pretty easy to install. theres a DIY around here some where on it.

it isnt hard to install. some people say to jack your car up and some people dont (i decided not to raise my car when i installed my neuspeed front strut bar), but all you have to do is:

1. take off the nuts from the struts
2. put the strut bar in place, in all 3 holes on each side
3. tighten the nuts to 33 ft. lb with a torque wrench

thats pretty much it. with the dc strut bars, you'll have to tighten the screws on it every once in a while because they tend to loosen up after a while.

i got 33 ft lbs from this site, you can also check out a helms manual. i cant tell you when to retighten them because my neuspeed strut bar doesnt require retightening. but i gues it's whenever you feel the bar is losing its effectiveness

Unscrew the bolts, put the bar on and torque to 33lbs. It really isn't that hard.

you need to tighten the nut on the swivel as much as possible and tighten the bolts on the shocks to 33lbs.

you need a torque wrench. it tells you how many ft. lbs you are tightening the nut
