Notice to all 2k2+ Tein SS owners
I know this has been talked about before...but here it goes
If you have a 2k2+ Civic and buy Tein SS (and probably basics as well), you have to buy the 2k1 Civic's upper bearing ring for the Tein SS to function properly.
I had the problem as I didn't put this bearing ring in the first time (as the 02 Civics dont have it), the car made noises like a popping noise in the front end when taking turns. This was because the Gold Spring Lock that Tein supplies was moving/rubbing on the upper mount which is metal. All you have to do is buy the bearing ring and put it in between the upper mount and the spring and your car is fixed.
It should cost you another $35 in parts. You do not have to buy the upper mount from the 01 Civic.
I know other people have done this and I've mentioned this as a problem before, but I'm not sure if anyone has actually posted on this site who 1. Originally Had a Problem & 2. Bought the Bearing Rings and saw the fix. If I'm wrong, this should serve as a healthy reminder.
K? Thx

you didn't need the upper mount bracket? I don't see how the 2k1 bearing ring could fit into a 2002+ upper mount correctly.. they design doesnt match at all. did you get pics as you fixed the problem?
edit:

see, it doesnt look like the ring could fit into the 2002+ upper mount. and if it does, it must not be sitting properly. I really really hope someone has addressed this issue to TEIN. Ground control has already released a different upper spring cup for the 2002+ civics, and since I've alerted B+G their R&D team is working on it too. they shouldn't make you pay to 'down-grade' your suspension to a 2k1

Well not really /shrug....Tein supplies a piece (its a gold ring) with the kit that encloses the bearing with the upper mount...its actually kinda funny...it wasn't done on purpose, but it works...The piece actually has one side that looks like the 01 Upper Mount and another side that is similar to the 02 Upper Mount....Soooo you put the flat side of the bearing into the 02 upper mount, put the piece tein supplies lip first (looks like the 01 mount's lip) into the other side of the bearing, and the spring into the bottom...locking all into place.
I know that makes absolutely no sense if you haven't seen the piece I'm talking about...but if you think about it, this makes sense. I wouldn't doubt , but dont quote me on this, that the Gold Ring goes in one way in the 01, and in the 02, it goes in "upside down" compartively speaking...Would have to think about that more but I think thats right.

thanks,
i never tried the 2k2 mounts on mine so i can't say wether or not they made a popping sound. i just bought the 2k1 upper mount & bearing ring when i bought my Tein's so they went right in when i did the install. but fyi they don't make any noises.
but here's a pic of the Tein Ring on the 2k1 Upper mount & bearing ring.

JUST FOR CLARITY, WHAT IS THE CORRECT PART# FOR THIS BEARING. I LOOKED AT
HONDAAUTOMOTIVEPARTS.COM:
RUBBER SEAT SPRING (UPPER)(002)-369017
SEAT FRONT SPRING (UPPER)(007)-369030
BEARING FRONT DAMPER MOUNTING (009)-369032
WHICH ONE IS IT??

Yes, we recently received information that there is a fitment issue with the BASIC kit for 01+ Civic on the 2002 and 2003 Civic. The simple fix would be to purchase the 2001 Civic bearing, part number 51726-S5A-004. You would need to purchase 2 of these, one for the Front Right and the other for the Front Left. Just use the 2001 Civic Bearing instead of the 02+ bearing, and install according to the instruction manual.
Please bear with us as it is difficult for us to foresee and monitor
suspension changes in vehicles in which the styling has not changed. i.e. 2001, 2002, and 2003 Civic has not changed in body style.

Okay- this part is on national back order. Luckily my friend at my dealer talked to corporate and is sending us one because they have the parts ready but they are lazy and have not sent them out yet.
Just to let yall know so yall dont end up having your Tein SS installed waiting on this one bearing to finish one of the struts. They will have it tomorrow morning thankfully.
Tein also doesnt suggest you drive on your Tein SS without these bearings. The shop that Im getting it installed at called them to see if I could have the car back for a day till the part comes in they high suggested that I just wait till the part comes in tomorrow.
