Trouble finding tires in a hurry...
Here's the deal... I need a set of autoX tires. So the requirements would be sticky and CHEAP. Only problem is the 2 tires that fit that requirement that I know of are no where to be found. Falken Azenis are on nation-wide back order, and I was only able to find the Kumho Ecsta MX at Tire Rack, and I can't buy them from there, because then I have to pay shipping AND tax, which I don't feel like doing. Anyone know of other sticky cheap tires out there... the other problem is I need 15s.. which seem to be uncommon for performance tires (I'm not surprised). Anyone got any good suggestions? I can't get them locally... and Discount Tire here in town wants $91 each for the Falkens when they can get them... which is nuts, my 17's were almost that much.
Now open for suggestions...
Worst comes to worst, I guess I can drive up to Tire Rack and pick the tires up, but I don't want to.

Maybe the Sumitomo HTR Z?
They are about $100/set cheaper (shipped) than the Ecsta MX's and they seem to be pretty capable. Looking at the Tire Rack survey responses, there was one person unhappy with the sidewall response, but other people that gave them track time liked them. Then there were a bunch of idiots complaining about how bad they were in the snow lol.
You are looking for 205/50's, right?

The HTR Z should be a pretty good tire, its got a tread wear of 160 so its still legal for STS.
The tire rack only lists 4 tires for your needs.
Kumho Ecsta MX TW 220 $78
Dunlop SP Sport 9000 TW 280 $119
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position TW 220 $120
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD TW 200 $153
I'm sorry to hear that you couldn't get the Falkens and that they are charging so much. you should tell them that you can get them else where for $67 Here and here

Hey I would try finding a tire by the name of "Matador". I went to a local tire shop recently and said I need the stickiest tire for 15s that I can get. I said treadwear wasn't an issue. The brought to the Matadors without hesitation and quoted me $366 mounted, with new valve stems and a wheel balancing. Hope that hellps. BTW - The tire shop was Town Fair Tire
