Hey guys

I read some posts and researched the tire sizes I was looking for. I decided I wanted a 215/45/17, and so I bought them with my Motegi MR7's.

I got my rims + tires last week, but it has just started to warm up now (and the snow is slowly disappearing), so I put on my rims today.

I backed out of the driveway, and as soon as I accelerated, it rubbed I drove around the block, and ANY form of body roll makes the tires rub

Just thought I'd let you guys know that 215/45/17 might not be a good choice with Goldlines (1.75" Drop all round -- and I have a sedan).

Hopefully the place I bought the package from will return just the tires, and give me a new size (probably gonna go with 205/40/17) for free (no hassle).

Yea, my fronts rub with the drop I have. Any hard cornering or big bumps in the road will give me the inner-fender buzzing sound. You can try and push your inner fender closer to the outer fender (bend the metal mouting tabs in a little), it helped just a tiny bit for me.

that's what i've been telling everyone. go with 205/45/17, you won't have any problems with that.

I shoulda kept on checking.

I wonder if the guy will give me 205/45, or if I should just try to go ultra-safe and stick with 205/40's...hrm.


InanimateCarbonRod: Unfortunately the tire is about 1" too wide when it rubs I tried to see if I could bend it to my will, but unfortunately, it's beyond hope

The good news is that it's only the rear that's rubbing. So if I got coilovers, and raised the rear a bit, I would be OK. Its a good excuse to get coilovers hehehe

You could always camber the rear in, but at 1", that would look pretty ghetto.

BTW, what is the offset of your wheels? (mine's 42mm)

The offset of the wheel is 40mm, and the car is 42mm. Only a small difference.

I just got back from the place I bought them: the guy replaced all the tires, rebalanced the wheels, then put them on my car. NO COST.

This guy is such a good businessman!

I went with a 205/40/17, instead of the larger size. The fender gap looks great, and there's NO rubbing at all!

If anyone lives in ottawa, I would suggest "Deals 4 Wheels". The service is fantastic!

i have a 2.75 drop with 205/40/17 with no rubbing at all

I have 215/40/17 with Motegi Mr7's and 1.5 drop and no rubbing. I'd just get a thinner tire.
