Stock Tires?

Hey everyone, just got a quick question for you all. I really can't afford rims, and im fixing to go to college so im going to keep the stock wheels for the timed being. The thing is that I have around 14,500 miles on my car, and my crappy firestone only have like a few thousand miles left on them. Just curious to know if those people who wore out their stock firestone tires, had it happen as quick as it did to me? Also, does anyone know a good brand of tires, type, etc, that I should get for my next set, that aren't very pricey? NOT FIRESTONE!

14000 Miles and your tires are shot? What the hell are you doing to them???? These things should go at least 50K, I know someone who put 83K on the stock tires from his 98 LX before they needed to be changed.
Yokohama makes good stuff. For 15's you should be able to get lots of tires for not much money. A lot of my friends have changed from stocks to Yok Avid H4 tires and have very few complaints about them. They aren't too expensive.

Yeah Firestone are pretty bad but you must have pushed them pretty hard, some Z rated tires will outlast what you're describing. For 15's go with either the Yokohama Avid H4s or the Toyo Proxy

Ill be honest with you, in the time ive had my car, the only time ive really burned out was when I put it into nuetral and reved it. I have an automatic by the way. Thats pretty much it, and ive only done that a few times. Sometimes when im coming out of driveways and turning the corners I kind of make the tires squeal, but thats the only reason I can think of my tires getting worn down. I just thought they got worn down so fast because firestone sucks and the stock pair is cheap.
